LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:A long-running legal battle involving Hunter Biden has resurfaced, with new court filings accusing the former president’s son of failing to honor a child support agreement and cutting off contact with his daughter, Navy Joan Roberts.

The dispute, which dates back to a 2019 paternity case in Arkansas, was reopened this week after lawyers for Navy’s mother, Lunden Roberts, filed a motion alleging that Biden has not followed through on obligations tied to a reduction in his child support payments.

The filing paints a stark picture of a child who has “desperately longed” for a relationship with her father.

According to the motion, Hunter Biden agreed to provide a “specified number of paintings” to his daughter as part of a revised child support arrangement. The deal followed Biden’s successful effort to reduce his monthly payments, citing financial strain.

Roberts’ attorneys say Biden offered the artwork so Navy could select the pieces herself, intending it to foster a bond between father and daughter. Court documents describe a moment when Navy gifted her father artwork she created, reportedly moving him to tears.

Alleged broken promises and emotional impact on Navy Joan Roberts

The motion claims Biden initially appeared engaged but that the relationship faltered after Roberts published a memoir in 2024 detailing her experience. Roberts now believes his gestures toward bonding were motivated by a desire to reduce child support payments.

The filing notes that Navy “desperately longed for, talked about, and dreamed of a relationship with her father,” and that the brief arrangement brought her and her family joy. It also recounts Navy expressing emotional distress over milestones, including the possibility her father would not walk her down the aisle.

Roberts’ lawyers accuse Biden of abruptly cutting off communication. The motion states that repeated attempts to reach him on Navy’s behalf were ignored. Documents note that while Biden’s other children enjoy a privileged lifestyle, Navy has been left without comparable support.

Lunden Roberts seeks legal enforcement and possible jail for Hunter Biden

Roberts is asking the court to compel Biden to communicate with his daughter and enforce the original agreement. The motion even suggests jailing Biden “as a civil penalty until he purges his contempt by complying with this court’s orders.”
