‘I call myself America First’: Marjorie Taylor Greene accuses Trump of betraying MAGA

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, making headlines after her recent CBS 60 Minutes interview, accused President Donald Trump of betraying the MAGA movement. Greene said Trump encouraged people to send death threats to her and her son and failed to deliver on his promises to improve Americans' lives.

Marjorie Taylor Greene told CBS News’ 60 Minutes, “For an ‘America First’ president, the No. 1 focus should have been domestic policy, and it wasn’t. And so, of course, I was critical, because those were my campaign promises.” She added, “Once we fix everything here, then fine, we’ll talk to the rest of the world.”

When CBS host Lesley Stahl asked Greene, “Are you MAGA?” she replied, “I am America First.” Stahl noted, “And that’s not the same as MAGA.” Greene responded, “MAGA is President Trump’s phrase. That’s his political policy. I call myself America First.” Stahl clarified, “But you are not saying you are MAGA.” Greene nodded, repeating, “I call myself America First.”

White House spokeswoman pushes back on Marjorie Taylor Greene’s claims

In recent days, Trump highlighted falling gas prices and issued an executive order directing his administration to investigate anti-competitive practices affecting food supply chains.

White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said Sunday, December 7, “In a short time, President Trump has already delivered on many of the promises he was elected to enact. He’s secured the border; tackled Biden’s inflation crisis; lowered drug prices; ended taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security; cooled inflation; deported criminal illegal aliens; implemented important reforms putting American workers first; and more.”

Jackson added, “As the architect of the MAGA movement, President Trump will always put America First. Every single day he is working hard to continue fulfilling the many promises he made, and he will continue delivering.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene says Trump's response to death threats was 'unkind'

Marjorie Taylor Greene said she had received threats for years, but things worsened after Trump called her a “lunatic” and a “traitor.”

“He did this in the same time span where President Trump brought in the al Qaeda leader once wanted by the US government, who is now the president of Syria,” Greene said. “Then within a week, he brought in the crown prince, MBS, who murdered an American journalist. Then he brought in the newly elected Democrat Socialist mayor of New York.”



She added, “The subject line for the direct death threats on my son was his words, 'Marjorie Traitor Greene.' Those were death threats.” Greene said she informed the president and vice president about the threats. Vice President JD Vance said they would look into it, and the president’s reply “wasn’t very nice,” she said. “It was extremely unkind.”

Greene dismissed claims that her break with Trump signals a 2028 presidential bid. “I have zero plans, zero desire to run for president. I would hate the Senate. I’m not running for governor,” she said. “But Lesley, it doesn’t matter how many times I say it. I’ll have face-to-face conversations with people, and I’ll flat-out tell them to their face, and they won’t believe me.”
