"I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her," McCarthy told a photographer from TMZ on April 30. The answer came after McCarthy was asked if Streisand was "out of line" for asking if the 'Bridesmaids' star had taken Ozempic in a since-deleted comment on Instagram.

On April 29, Melissa McCarthy took to Instagram to share a delightful moment from the Center Theatre Group's CTG The Gala event, held at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles the previous evening. The post featured McCarthy alongside director Adam Shankman, both adorned in pastel attire, as they celebrated the occasion.

"Pastels only to honor the incredible @matthewbourne13 at the @ctgla gala last night with this fella @adamshankman!!" McCarthy captioned the photo, adding, "Thiiiiis much closer to my dream of dancing on stage."

In the comments, Streisand wrote: "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?"

There was significant buzz online over Streisand's remark, with many people deeming it was rude.

Streisand addressed the situation, writing in a statement, "I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday! Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album.”

“She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!” added Streisand.

Streisand clarified she had intended to pay McCarthy a compliment on her appearance but had forgotten the public nature of her comment.

Streisand emphasized her admiration for McCarthy's talent and regretted any misunderstanding.

McCarthy and Streisand have a history of collaboration, having performed a duet together for Streisand's album 'Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway' in 2016. McCarthy fondly recalled their meeting, highlighting Streisand's unexpected casual demeanor, which differed from her expectations.

"I think when she opened the door she had leggings on and lunch meat in her hand. And I was like, none of this is what I expected," the 'Little Mermaid' actress told Entertainment Weekly in June 2023 about her meeting Streisand.
