Here's why Sandra Bullock is coming back to the spotlight a year after partner Bryan Randall's death
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sandra Bullock is "ready" to return to the spotlight after stepping away from the public for two years to support her late partner Bryan Randall and spend time with her family.
According to sources, the Oscar-winning actress — who turned 60 on July 26 — is "gradually reemerging into public life" following her grief for the loss of the "love of her life," who died in August 2023 at the age of 57 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Sandra Bullock is gradually reemerging into public life after partner Bryan Randall's death
A source revealed to Us Weekly: "Sandra’s gradually reemerging into public life. She's excited about what the future holds. She's ready to get back in the game."
They said that although Bullock is "healing slowly, keeping Bryan's memory alive and focusing on her children," she is "open to the possibility" of dating in the future.
It has been little over two years since the 'Speed' actress declared she was taking a permanent break from performing to prioritize life at home with her children, Louis, 14, and Layla, 11.
She looked effortlessly stylish as she made her way to her car on July 12, while doing errands in Los Angeles. She carried gift bags from jeweler Jacquie Aiche and eventually shared a laugh with a female companion.
Bullock looked happy, with her long dark hair down in beachy waves, and was dressed in a white T-shirt, cream trousers, and a light beige sweater.
Sandra Bullock to reprise role in 'Practical Magic' sequel after two-year hiatus from acting
In March 2022, Sandra Bullock sent shockwaves through the Hollywood industry when she announced that she was taking a break from acting.
"I’m so burnt out. I’m so tired, and I’m so not capable of making healthy, smart decisions, and I know it," said the actress at the time, adding, "I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family. That’s where I’m gonna be for a while."
According to the first source, losing Randall "has been one of the hardest experiences Sandra’s gone through." In a 2021 'Red Table Talk' interview, Bullock talked about why she didn't feel the need to be married and referred to Randall as the "love of her life."
Complimenting Bullock's parenting style, another source noted, "Sandra's a really hands-on mom, The kids are involved in sports, and Sandra attends all their games. They all love the outdoors and go on bike rides and hikes together."
Following Randall's death, Bullock turned to her loved ones, especially her close friend Jennifer Aniston, who she traveled to New York City in March.
"Everyone from family to close Hollywood friends stepped up to help her in any way they could and she’s forever grateful for that," shared another tipster.
The loving mother is now gradually getting back to normal. Early in May, she made a rare podcast appearance on '50 MPH', where she discussed her 1994 hit movie 'Speed' with co-star and close friend Keanu Reeves.
In mid-June, Nicole Kidman announced that she and Bullock would be returning to their respective roles of Gillian Owens and Sally Owens in the sequel to the beloved 1998 film 'Practical Magic'.
