LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: OJ Simpson's remains have been cremated in Las Vegas, marking the conclusion of the former football star's journey after a battle with prostate cancer. His lawyer, Malcolm LaVergne, exclusively told the Daily Mail that Simpson died feeling content and surrounded by family at the age of 76.

The private cremation ceremony took place at 10 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2024, according to Simpson's final wishes. LaVergne, also the executor of the former athlete's estate, said that while a larger memorial service is in the works, it won't happen immediately.

According to LaVergne, Simpson shared his desired location for scattering his ashes with his children, ensuring that his final wishes would be honored. Despite his desire to witness his grandchildren grow older, Simpson was ultimately content with his life despite the ups and downs.

"OJ wouldn't want anyone to feel sad for him," LaVergne said, before adding, "He's had a great life, happy life, certainly, he had his trials and tribulations, but his last seven years were fantastic, so he wouldn't want anyone feeling sorry for him."

"He would have liked a few more years to see his grandkids get a little bit older. But he was basically content at the end," he added.

Simpson's final years were spent in Las Vegas, particularly in a luxurious golf neighborhood, where he has chosen to remain close to his youngest son Justin.

Justin, who was also named an executor of Simpson's will, lives nearby with his wife and children.

Despite the apparent decline in Simpson's health in recent weeks, his death came as a surprise to those who saw him just a year ago, illustrating the rapid progression of his illness.

Simpson, who had been living in Las Vegas since his release from prison in 2017, remained active in the community, even as reports of his declining health circulated.

His final public appearance, a video posted shortly before Super Bowl LVIII, showed him in his daughter Arnelle's backyard, attempting to reassure fans about his health. Despite his optimistic tone, Simpson's health was deteriorating rapidly, as confirmed by LaVergne.

The recent cremation of OJ Simpson's remains has prompted a dry response on the internet, with many social media users expressing little sympathy for the former football star.

"I don't feel sorry for him at all. I feel sorry for Nicole and Ron and their loved ones," commented one user, reflecting a sentiment shared by others who believe Simpson's victims, Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, deserve more empathy than Simpson himself.

"He's finally facing the judgment he eluded in life," remarked another user, indicating a sense of justice being served even after Simpson's death.

Some users expressed disgust at the notion of Simpson having lived a long and happy life, considering the tragic fate of his victims. "Well, no one does feel sorry for him, and the fact that he had a 'long and happy life' is repulsive considering Nicole and Ron didn’t live long enough to say that because of him," one user commented.

Others questioned the appropriateness of holding a public memorial for Simpson, given his infamous past. "Why would there be a public memorial? He murdered two innocent people," stated one person, reflecting on the gravity of Simpson's actions.

"No worries, we didn't feel sorry for him. Yes, he had a long, happy life, unlike the lives he snuffed out in a jealous snit," another individual said.
