Internet disagrees with JD Vance as he calls for Biden's resignation as POTUS if he exits reelection race
WASHINGTON, DC: Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance demanded President Joe Biden resign from the presidency in light of the growing Democratic calls for his exit from the reelection bid, citing a lack of mental acuity.
The senator from Ohio who grabbed former president Donald Trump's running mate ticket earlier this week argued in an X (formerly Twitter) post on Friday, July 19, that no Democrat could push him to stay in the office until term completion in January 2025.
"If Joe Biden doesn't have the cognitive function to run for reelection, then he certainly doesn't have the cognitive function to remain as Commander-In-Chief," Vance wrote. "How can any Dem pushing him to drop out of the presidential race, argue in good faith that he should stay on as POTUS?"

How can any Dem pushing him to drop out of the presidential race, argue in good faith that he should stay on as POTUS?
Since flunking the presidential debate against Trump in June, Biden, who has six months left in office, faced mounting pressure from dozens of Democratic elected officials to step aside from the 2024 race.
Sen Marco Rubio echoes JD Vance's call for Biden to resign from office
Speaking to reporters at the Republican National Convention on July 18, Sen Marco Rubio mirrored similar demand.
"The question is, if he's not going to be their nominee because he's not up to it, how can he be our president for the next six months?" Rubio asked, as per Politico.
"If there's something wrong with you that doesn't allow you to run for president, how can you still be there as president? If they're going to remove him as nominee, they've got to remove him as president, and that's really bad for our country."
Opinion poll analysis website FiveThirtyEight's founder and polling guru Nate Silver made the same demand earlier this month. He asserted Biden should hand over the presidency to Vice President Kamala Harris in 30 to 60 days.
Historian Alexis Coe and presidential historian Allan Lichtman echoed the same, urging the octogenarian to resign and install his VP as the commander-in-chief, according to Fox News.
Despite defying calls for his step down for nearly a month, Biden seemingly shifted his stance in a recent interview with BET News's Ed Gordon that he would consider exiting the race if a "medical condition" emerged.
Internet disagrees with JD Vance
Netizens outrightly rejected the Republican VP nominee's call for Biden to exit the office if he decided to end the reelection bid. Social media reactions noted that running for president is different from his presidential duties.
"That literally makes zero sense," a user wrote.
"The idea that a sitting president should resign just because he decides not to run for reelection is absurd. Biden's decision to run or not is entirely separate from his duties as president," another opined.

"That's not how that works," pointed out a third user.
"Nobody cares what this Senator with very little experience that has done zero for Ohio has to say. He spent the whole beginning of his term following around Trump and sucking up!" Read a fourth response.
"Their feelings are 100% irrelevant," another person added.

"Er, being unfit to serve another four-year term does not mean being unfit to serve another 5 months of his existing term..." someone else claimed.
"Biden is not incapacitated, so there is no need for him to resign from the presidency. JD Vance is out of line," an individual remarked.
"Biden should stay as POTUS but allow the DNC to pick a new candidate for Nov '24 ... Though I do not approve of Biden's policies nor his life ... Biden was used and abused by Dems and his family ... and stripping him from POTUS 6 months before the end of his term ... is wrong," another user wrote.
