JUPITER, FLORIDA: During a live Q&A on the Monday, July 8, episode of his ‘Triggered’ podcast, Donald Trump Jr curiously suggested that if his father, former President Donald Trump, chose GOP Senator Marco Rubio as his 2024 running mate, he might try to steal the presidency, per OK Magazine.

"I have a good relationship with Marco, but there's some truth about having someone that's a little more establishment in there," the former First Son claimed.

"It's like, wouldn't the Senate RINOS, wouldn't they love that?"

"You know, I said that about Nikki Haley...By the time my father's hand moves off the Bible in the swearing-in process, the second it moves off, it would be like, 'Impeachment!'. That's how fast it would be," he remarked.

He added, "There's something about having someone outside the establishment to sort of further protect you from that establishment."

Despite speculations, there still is no indication as to who Trump will pick as his vice president. While Rubio, Ohio Senator JD Vance, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum's names are doing the rounds, Senator Tim Scott, Representative Elise Stefanik, and Representative Byron Donalds also seem to be under consideration.

VP talks within Republican Party heat up ahead of Milwaukee RNC

The 53-year-old Florida Senator and the embattled 2024 presumptive GOP presidential nominee share a political history between them as Sen Rubio ran against the 78-year-old MAGA strongman back in the 2016 presidential election.

However, the Sunshine State lawmaker later dropped out of the race and endorsed Donald Trump for POTUS.

Earlier this year, Sen Marco Rubio tweeted in support of former President Trump despite his ongoing legal troubles.

On January 14, Rubio posted on X, formerly Twitter, "When Trump was in WH I achieved major policies I had worked on for years (like expanded Child Tax Credit & tough sanctions on regime in Cuba & Venezuela) because we had a President who didn’t cave to special interests or let bureaucrats block us.”

"I support Trump because that kind of leadership is the ONLY way we will get the extraordinary actions needed to fix the disaster Biden has created," he asserted, adding, "It’s time to get on with the work of beating Biden & saving America!"

Donald Jr's remarks came after right-wing political commentator Bill O'Reilly stated that he was "90 percent sure" that the former president would choose Sen Marco Rubio as his running mate. However, he confessed that he did not think it would be a wise decision.

"Who he should pick is Nikki Haley. That would assure him a victory in November, in my opinion, because independent women will take a look," O’Reilly explained. "But he doesn’t like Nikki Haley."

Despite previously stating that former President Donald Trump had a "pattern of irresponsibility" during her presidential campaign this election cycle, Haley, the former Governor of South Carolina, has unexpectedly committed to voting for him come November.

"Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I’ve made that clear many, many times," she said at the time.

"I stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me."

The Republican National Convention is set to take place in Milwaukee from July 15 to July 18. Here Trump is expected to be formally chosen as the party's nominee for the 2024 election.
