Internet divide as Jennifer Lawrence reveals she asked Robert De Niro to leave her wedding
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Golden Globe-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence recently shared insights into her wedding day with Cooke Maroney, describing the experience as "stressful."
Lawrence, known for her roles in films like 'Silver Linings Playbook' and 'American Hustle,' admitted that being a bride was challenging, primarily because she was overly concerned about ensuring her guests, including Hollywood icon Robert De Niro, had a good time.
Jennifer Lawrence reveals wedding day stress
In a candid revelation during the Golden Globes red carpet event, Lawrence opened up about the stress she experienced on her wedding day to art gallery director Cooke Maroney in 2019.
The 'No Hard Feelings' star admitted finding the role of being a bride "awful," with her primary concern being whether the guests were enjoying themselves, which intensified the overall stress of the day.
“You’re not having fun. You’re just like, ‘Is that person having fun?'” she told E! News.
The private ceremony included notable celebrities like Robert De Niro, Lawrence's co-star in films such as 'Silver Linings Playbook,' 'American Hustle' and 'Joy.'
During the rehearsal dinner, Lawrence's concern for De Niro's comfort prompted her to approach him and suggest he "go home."
“I looked over and I saw Bob, who doesn’t know anybody and he’s kind of wandering around, and I immediately was like, ‘No, this isn’t what he wants to be doing. I don’t want him here,'” she explained.
“So I went over and whispered, I was like, ‘Go home,’ and he was nice — he like talked to my parents and was polite — but I was like, ‘Go."
“That just genuinely made me feel better,” she said.

Lawrence, 33, and Maroney, 38, tied the knot on October 2019. The star-studded ceremony took place at the historic Belcourt of Newport mansion in Rhode Island, featuring notable guests like Adele, Kris Jenner, and Emma Stone.
Lawrence revealed her concerns about the guests being cold during the outdoor event.
“I’ll never forget — I was freaking out about the guests being cold, and all of my friends were lying. They’re like, Nobody’s cold, nobody’s cold, everything’s fine, everything’s fine," she shared.
“My mom was like, It’s freezing out there. Your grandmother almost died."
The Oscar-winning actress had kept her Dior wedding gown, featuring a sequined neckline, largely under wraps, never sharing official photos. In contrast, paparazzi photos captured glimpses of the private ceremony, showcasing Lawrence in her wedding attire and Maroney in a classic tuxedo.
The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Cy, in early 2022.
Internet reacts to Jennifer Lawrence's wedding day revelations
Jennifer Lawrence's candid remarks about her star-studded wedding day at the Golden Globes have stirred diverse reactions on the internet.
Some internet users expressed discomfort, with one stating, "It feels like disrespect. I guess, maybe, if he invited himself and just showed up. But even then, there was nothing respectful about it. Especially her talking about it afterwards."
Another user appreciated Lawrence's maturity, commenting, "It’s nice to see how mature Miss Lawrence has become."
Additionally, a user suggested an alternative approach, stating, "I wouldn't have told him to leave but rather told him he shouldn't feel the need to stay if he doesn't want to. Obviously, he knew her or he wouldn't have come."
