'Just for attention’: Internet divided as Nicki Minaj throws object back at crowd after being hit by it
DETROIT, MICHIGAN: Fans and concertgoers these days are feeling bold enough to throw items on stage while artists are performing. Something similar happened with Nicki Minaj, who became the latest victim while she was on stage during the 'Pink Friday 2 World Tour' stop in Detroit on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
According to XXL Mag, while singing her 'Starships' hit, Minaj noticed a bracelet being thrown at her from the crowd. She leveraged her hand-eye coordination to swat the item aside while displaying some athletic skill akin to that of an NFL cornerback.

As seen in the video, the object thrown at Minhaj clearly annoyed her. She caught it and twirled it around like a baseball pitcher before hurling it back into the crowd.

However, she didn’t let the incident take away from her fun throughout the concert. The sensation wrote on X, “#GagCityDetroit what was your fave part of the show last night? Your energy was so beautiful,” before adding "Loud, Happy, Fly, Pretty, SEXY, etc. just GREAT energy that I’ll never forget.”

This incident comes days after Luke Bryan had a nasty fall by slipping on a fan's cell phone. He was lauded by fans for handling the situation in a classy way.
Additionally, Drake is one of the many rappers who has had to deal with fans throwing things on stage. During a Detroit show in 2023 for his 'It’s All A Blur Tour', women were throwing bras among other items on stage.
On the other hand, Minaj continues with her 'Pink Friday 2 World Tour' this week with some shows in Chicago and Minneapolis.
She also released the star-studded 'FTCU (Sleeze Mix)' featuring Travis Scott, Chris Brown, and Sexyy Red on Friday, April 19.
Internet divided on Nicki Minaj's response
Several social media users and fans defended Nicki Minhaj for self-defense after a fan threw a "bracelet" at Nicki's 27th sold-out show. However, some criticized the move.
A Facebook user said, "Well that was stupid!! What are the odds that she hit the same person who threw it. Most likely it was an innocent bystander who got hit that will now sue.”
The next user said, "If that hit me and I didn't throw it, someone signing a check, idgaf."
One user said, "Someone threw some talent at her. She rejected it." Another wrote, "Buy why throw it at someone who didn't throw it at you."
A user wrote, "Fun fact, you didn't even hit the person who threw it to you so now some
innocent fan who spent money on her show got the blunt of her ridiculous throw!"
Another user said, "She did for attention."
Some users sided with Minhaj as one said, "I understand her actions." Another wrote, "She ashould not be blamed."
One user said, "First people do need to stop throwing things, she has a right to get upset."
