LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: During a recent appearance on MSNBC, Tristan Snell, a former New York assistant attorney general, didn't hold back his frustration regarding the decision to lower former President Donald Trump's bond payment in the New York civil fraud case.

According to Fox News, Snell accused Trump of receiving special treatment and criticized what he described as Trump's "own private system of justice".

Outrage over Trump's alleged preferential treatment

Speaking on 'Jose Díaz-Balart Reports,' Snell expressed outrage at the judge's ruling, stating, "Honestly, this is so infuriating I don’t even know what to do."

He questioned the fairness of the process, suggesting that Trump seemed to have his own set of rules, akin to "his own private court of justice".

Snell didn't mince words while discussing Trump's influence and resources, highlighting his private plane, clubs, and the events of January 6, which he characterized as an attempt to "take over the Capitol".

He argued that Trump's privileged status extended to the legal system, referring to the decision to lower his bond payment as an "absolute travesty" and a "gross miscarriage of justice".

Criticism of appellate court intervention and allegations of preferential treatment

When asked about the legal basis for the decision, Snell criticized the appellate court's intervention, labeling it as a "gross miscarriage of justice."

He expressed uncertainty about whether there was any recourse for the Attorney General's office to challenge the decision further.

David Henderson, a former prosecutor, echoed Snell's sentiments, emphasizing that Trump was receiving preferential treatment compared to others in similar legal situations. He noted the apparent discrepancy in treatment, where Trump was given more time to pay less money than ordinary defendants.

"The playbook is different for former President Trump. We were literally talking about this the last time you and I discussed this case. I expect for them to do something for him that’s different than what you see for everybody else when they go to court. So here he’s given more time to pay less money. That’s what it comes down to," Henderson said.

Controversy over appeals court's decision to slash Trump's bond payment

The recent ruling by the appeals court slashed Trump's bond payment from $454 million to $175 million, which he is now required to pay within the next 10 days. This decision effectively halts attempts by New York Attorney General Letitia James to seize Trump's assets as the legal battle continues.

Despite the setback, Snell remained adamant that the decision was unjust and that the people of New York deserved better from their judicial system. He lamented the lack of transparency and explanation surrounding the ruling, asserting that the public deserved to know the reasoning behind such significant legal decisions.

"They just drop a bomb on this, and they don’t give us any explanation at all. Yeah, that’s enormously frustrating, and I would say it’s wrong. It just shouldn’t have happened. It shouldn’t happen this way."

"We deserve, the public, the people, the state of New York deserve better than to have this happen," Snell said.

"We deserve better out of our judicial system than to have something like this happen where we’re not actually even getting to find out what the Wizard of Oz is doing behind the damn curtain. This is ridiculous," he continued.

In response to the ruling, Trump stated that he would "abide" by the appeals decision and proceed to post the $175 million bond. If Trump follows through with this payment, it would temporarily shield his assets from seizure as he continues to challenge the judgment against him.
