LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a delightful surprise for fans, Jon Stewart makes a triumphant return, accompanied by the familiar sight of a popcorn box reminiscent of his iconic munching moments from his 1999-2015 run on 'The Daily Show.'

Comedy Central shared a promo where Stewart, expressing his eagerness, announced his hosting gig every Monday and humorously grabbed a box of popcorn similar to his past indulgences.

Stewart's highly anticipated return schedule

Stewart's return to the show kicks off on Monday, February 12, with subsequent hosting every Monday. Recognizing the significance of the first show of the week, Stewart will be joined by a rotating cast of hosts Tuesday through Thursday, primarily drawn from the show's correspondents.

In the promo, Stewart, mid-chew, questioned if the popcorn was the same from "the GIF nine years ago". The voiceover playfully declared, "Finally, a second term we can all agree on," as Stewart candidly admitted the stale snack was "not bad."

'The Daily Show's triumph: Jon Stewart returns as the voice of a generation amidst political chaos

The return of Stewart, known for his sharp wit and astute political commentary, has fans eagerly anticipating the satirical lens he will bring to current events.

Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, expressed his excitement when Stewart's return was announced in January.

He emphasized Stewart's role as "the voice of our generation," noting the honor of having him back on Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show' to navigate the insanity and division prevalent in the country as the election season unfolds.

"In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit," McCarthy added.

From 'The Problem' to 'The Daily Show' return

Stewart's recent hosting stint on Apple TV+'s 'The Problem with Jon Stewart' concluded in October 2023 after two seasons.

Now, as he returns to 'The Daily Show,' viewers can expect Stewart's distinctive comedic perspective to illuminate the ongoing political landscape, offering both humor and insight during these challenging times.
