MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: 'Real Time' host Bill Maher expressed his approval of the Supreme Court's anticipated decision to strike down Colorado's ballot ban of former President Trump, asserting that it's not the right approach to defeating him in 2024.

Maher initiated a panel discussion on the night of February 9 by stating that the courts "are going to be everything in this election" and that they will ultimately be "the decider".

Bill Maher sides with Trump on Supreme Court's Insurrection Act ruling

He began by commending the federal appeals court's decision that Trump was not immune from prosecution in the 2020 election case

However, he expressed frustration that "we may not even get the big trial" before November due to the courts moving too slowly. "So F**k them," Maher exclaimed.

The HBO star then shifted the discussion to last week's Supreme Court arguments regarding Colorado's contentious decision to exclude Trump from the primary ballot due to his actions leading up to the events of Jan 6.

Contrary to many liberals in the media who supported Colorado's stance, Maher sided with Trump.

"The Supreme Court [is] about to rule, and it looks like it's going to go in Trump's favor, about whether individual states can bar someone from running under the Insurrection Act because January 6," Maher said.

He further said, "Now look, even people who do not want Trump to be president and I think that everybody at this table- many of those people including myself, I must say, not opposed to this ruling like because I just don't think this is the way you can do it".

"First of all, it's a little murky whether that January 6 was an ‘insurrection,"' Maher continued.

"It certainly was a riot. It was a bunch of - a lot of those people - some of them were definitely there to stop that election. A lot of them were just like, ‘Oh good, Trump. I love him and ooh, the Capitol is open now,"' the host added.

Maher continued by noting that "half the country" remains unconvinced about Trump's alleged wrongdoing despite the impeachment trial, the Jan 6 committee investigations, and the media's relentless criticism of the former president.

"If they do this, if they bar Trump from running, or he loses the election because he couldn't run in two states, this will become the norm," Maher added.

Bill Maher's bold statements draw support

Many individuals sided with Bill Maher's statements, applauding his frankness and boldness in addressing contentious incidents concerning Trump.

Maher's reputation for unfiltered commentary resonated with people who said, "They will, don't worry Billy".

Two of the comments read, "Interesting"; and "Good information".

Another said, "They will, and they will also toss the immunity case because it would open up for all living past presidents to be charged for things they did".

"Bill Maher is a hero," another praised the host.

One individual wrote, "He maybe right. On the one hand you don’t want to persecute the a ex president On the other hand no one is above the law If he was of the ballot for the election an lost there would not accept it But if he lost the election fairly people would not accept it Just like 2020".
