Dua Lipa reveals she’s been planning her third album 'Radical Optimism' since before her first album
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a candid revelation that has captured the internet's attention, global pop sensation Dua Lipa shared that her upcoming third album, 'Radical Optimism,' has been a big plan of hers since she started in music.
The 28-year-old singer, featured on the cover of TIME magazine, believes that her habit of thinking ahead and staying focused has been key to her achievements in the world of music, as per Billboard.
Dua Lipa started thinking of 'Radical Optimism' before her debut album
According to Lipa's TIME magazine cover story, she started thinking about 'Radical Optimism' long before her self-titled debut album came out in 2017.
"Ever since I was a kid, I've written down things I wanted for myself. I've always thought ahead. Even though unexpected things happen that I have to think about in the moment, I always have a big goal for the future," shared Lipa.
Recalling her early discussions about future projects, Lipa revealed, "I remember when I was working on my first album, I was making notes on what my third album was going to be."
With a clear vision in mind, she even hoped to work with the likes of Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, confiding in her close friend and A&R Joe Kentish, "Maybe album three, I could work with [Tame Impala's] Kevin Parker."
Fast forward seven years and Lipa's dream has become a reality. 'Radical Optimism' boasts an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Parker himself, as well as Caroline Ailin, Danny L Harle, and Tobias Jesso Jr. The 11-track album, led by singles 'Houdini', 'Training Season', and 'Illusion', is set to drop on May 3.
Dua Lipa reflects on how much she has changed since her first album
As Lipa looks back on how she's changed since her first album, she admits it's made a big difference in her music. "The whole album is more grown-up. I'm definitely not the same person I was when I wrote my first album," Lipa says.
"I've evolved and learned so much … taking it as it comes, not seeing anything as bad or something as a setback. That involves a lot of growing and understanding myself, knowing my worth, whether it be in business, love, or friendship," she added.
With a newfound confidence and self-assurance, Lipa declares, "I'm just a different person, so of course this record is going to be different. I have different thoughts, wants, needs and perspectives. I've done a 180 on myself … I feel the most confident at this point in my life."
