Internet hopes Jennifer Coolidge 'plays a witch' as she joins star-studded cast of ‘Minecraft’ movie

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Acclaimed actress Jennifer Coolidge is set to join the star-studded cast of Warner Bros/Vertigo/Legendary's film adaptation of the popular video game, 'Minecraft'.

The production, currently underway in New Zealand, already boasts a lineup of notable actors including Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen, per Deadline. 

The 'Legally Blonde' star, 62, has recently clinched her second Primetime Emmy for HBO's 'The White Lotus'.

Jennifer Coolidge joins 'Minecraft' movie

'Minecraft', a joint venture between Mojang, Microsoft, and Legendary, is being directed by Jared Hess and co-financed by Legendary and Momoa's On the Roam.

Coolidge's addition to the cast adds another layer of anticipation for fans eagerly awaiting the big-screen rendition of their beloved game.

The production team for the Minecraft film reportedly includes Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui, and the late Jill Messick.

Executive producers are Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, and Jonathan Spaihts.

The writing credits are still being finalized for a story that is being kept under wraps.

Minecraft holds the title of the best-selling video game of all time, with a staggering 300 million copies sold and nearly 140 million active players each month.

Coolidge is represented by UTA, Mosaic, and Sloane Offer Weber & Dern.

She recently won the Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her reprisal of the eccentric, wealthy vacationer, Tanya, in 'White Lotus'.

Her filmography includes notable roles in  'American Pie', 'Promising Young Woman', and Christopher Guest's films 'A Mighty Wind' and 'Best in Show'.

She also stars in the Netflix series 'The Watcher by Ryan Murphy'. Her next role will be in Riff Raff, alongside Ed Harris, Pete Davidson, and Bill Murray.
