WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump's recent campaign speeches have made headlines for his controversial remarks on undocumented immigrants and his reading habits leaning toward the ideologies of dictators like Adolf Hitler.

Amid these, a video clip of the former President is being shared on social media, where he discusses his love for the Bible on multiple occasions.

The montage of Trump talking about the 'Bible' was first shared by the editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch news network, Ron Filipkowski, on his X account. He posted the nearly three-and-half minute video with the caption 'Montage of Trump clips talking about his love of the Bible and reading in general'.

Trump, who is originally a Presbyterian, was identified as a ‘non-denominational Christian’ in 2020, according to the website Religion News Service.

'The Bible means a lot to me'

The first clip from the video is from a 2017 interview of Trump with CBN News. "There's so many things that you can learn from it. Proverbs, the chapter never bend to envy. I've had that thing all of my life where people are bending to envy," said the former President.

"It's an incredible book. So many things you can learn from the Bible and you can lead your life. And I'm not just talking in terms of religion. I'm talking in terms of leading a life, even beyond a religion. There's so many brilliant things in the Bible," he added.

In another instance, he said, "The Bible means a lot to me."

Another instance in the video showed Trump's 2016 speech at Liberty University in Virginia, where he quoted Bible verses.

The timing of this video comes at a time when Trump dominates the GOP candidates for the 2024 presidential race in opinion polls.

Contrary to his claims that the Bible means a lot to him, he recently made a "grotesque rhetoric of fascists" mirroring German dictator Hitler's words. He said that undocumented immigrants were "poisoning the blood of our country", and also that he would like to be a "dictator" for a day if elected.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's love for the Bible

Social media users are not ready to believe that the former President follows anything said in the Bible. And many are ridiculing him for making such claims.

One user remarked, "Despicable."

Another user added, "He is somewhere between the Old Testament and the New Testament which adds up to the No Testament."

"Someone should make him recite the Lord's Prayer. He wouldn't make it past the first line," a third user said.

"The only time the former guy ever even saw the Bible was in a sleazy motel room when he accidentally opened the drawer," read another reaction.

While a fifth user added, "Trump is afraid if he actually read the Bible or quoted a scripture he would burst into flames."

There were also memes making fun of Trump's claims.
