NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Vice President Kamala Harris became the subject of focus groups conducted by the Democratic National Committee looking to find out the reason for her low approval ratings among voters, according to the Daily Mail.

As per the findings, many voters have specifically pointed out her laugh as a key reason for not liking her, while others have even questioned if she personally finds favor with President Joe Biden.

Polls show the approval ratings of the VP stagnating around the mid-30s, which the publication states to be a historic low for the modern vice presidency.

However, some Democratic voters still found Harris better in terms of addressing issues such as abortion, guns, student loans, and the Israeli war in Gaza, than President Biden, even though she spent the first three years in office struggling with bad headlines.

Kamala Harris at odds with White House

While Harris tries to break out on key issues during the reelection campaign for her and Biden, the President's aides reportedly continue to hint at their frustration with her.

The Mail stated White House officials fumed at the VP and her team when she tried to assert her stance on "an immediate ceasefire" in Gaza in front of the media, even though her position was not different from Biden's.

The President's aides were also annoyed by the notion that they should depend more on Harris on some issues, and reports of Harris holding private meetings with top Democrats to discuss the 2024 presidential campaign did little to alleviate the situation.

VP trying to rebuild her image

Harris is playing to her strengths by focusing on abortion rights during the campaigns, and trying to resell her image as a prosecutor by telling CNN she finds the prospect of prosecuting Donald Trump on the issue of abortion rights "liberating".

Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised Harris' advocacy on the subject, stating, "There's a certain level of authority that comes with having a uterus and being a woman."

Being confirmed to run with Biden for a second time, Harris has the Democratic Party trying to rehab her image ahead of the 2024 election, with her aides believing the solution to be more "exposure" for the VP. She is already confident about taking on Trump's running mate, stating, "I am ready. For whoever has the, fill in the blank, to do it."

Internet reacts to Kamala Harris' low ratings

People online slammed Kamala Harris and her low approval ratings.

"The should be no surprise to anyone. Harris had the lowest approval rating of ANY candidate that made it to the debates. She was selected as Biden's running mate because she ticked diversity boxes. There were several other much more qualified candidates that Democrats could have chosen," a reader commented on the Daily Mail report online.

"Mid 30s approval, or is that minus 30 with the dash before it which is more realistic," jibed another.

"She was never anything other than a token hire. Not exactly presidential timber, though she may well be elevated to that position," wrote a third.

"I don't think More exposure of Harris will do anything but make People More aware of her LACK of qualifications, and expose that she was 'placed' in the position of VP, for all the wrong reasons," expressed a fourth reader.

"It's not so much her laugh that's the problem, but it's the timing of it: she (hysterically) laughs at inappropriate times. At the very least, read the room. She can't and that's not good," commented a fifth.
