Internet says Stephen Colbert 'hit gold' with hilarious late-night monologue mocking Trump's speech flubs
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Stephen Colbert dedicated his entire monologue on the night of March 4 to Donald Trump, considering the former president's recent flurry of news-making activities.
While Colbert touched on the Supreme Court ruling that Trump remains eligible for state presidential ballots, he delved deeper into Trump's apparent cognitive decline, particularly evident in his public appearances.
Stephen Colbert roasts Trump's speech mishaps and rambling
After airing a clip where Trump struggled to pronounce "refrigerator" during a rally in North Carolina, Colbert quipped, "Not entirely sure what’s going on there. But apparently he can’t even say the word Russia without climaxing," before comically mimicking Trump.
Colbert then introduced another clip from the same speech where Trump rambled about energy independence.
Colbert mockingly imitated Trump's enthusiastic yet disjointed delivery, saying, "Can we be energy independent? Can we be energy dominant again? Oh, yes. Oh yes and quickly, says President Trump. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. And quickly."
"Is he giving his speech or reading a book to toddlers?" Colbert quipped, adding, "Oh, yes. Oh, yes,’ said President Trump with golden hair and a mushy rump. All the words that I can manage because of all of my brain damage."
Continuing his comedic critique, Colbert rolled another clip in which Trump struggled with the pronunciation of 'Venezuela'.
Trump was seen rambling, "In Venezuela. The you ge cee [sic] Maduro. Venezuera, uh, uh, unbelievable [sic].” Again, this is a verbatim transcript of what he said.
The host remarked, saying, "Yes, the nation of Venezuereunbelievable, located just north of Whereaguay and Perwho?"
"Trump’s speeches weren’t all demented word slurry. He also did the completely normal thing of describing a graph that no one can see," he added.

Following that, Colbert played a clip of Trump stating, “Within two years, we were so far above Saudi Arabia and Russia, which were number one and two. You have to see the chart."
Then, imitating a visual representation, Trump remarked, “They’re like this. And we’re like,” emitting a low-pitched “deee,” followed by a high pitched 'boop.'”
Colbert then highlighted Trump's attempt to describe a graph during his speech, saying, "Oh, I know that one."
Mimicking Trump's sound effects, Colbert humorously responded with the beginning of the 'Star Wars' fanfare.
Following this, Colbert recounted more odd occurrences at recent Trump rallies before concluding with a discussion of the recent revelations about rampant drug abuse at the White House during Trump's presidency. Viewers were quick to react to Colbert's monologue, with one saying, "Laughing out loud (instead of just being depressed that MAGA exists). Thank you!"
Another said, "The writers hit gold with this episode. So many lolz and our political views don't match. Funny is funny. Bravo."
"Your Comedy Writers have definitely stepped it up on this episode!" praised another.
A few other comments read, "This is simply the best. Good job Stephen!! I will forever be a faithful viewer."
"Stephen, you were on top form tonight - I only just avoided injuring myself from laughing so much!"
