LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sen James Lankford (R-Okla), the primary Republican representative leading negotiations on a bipartisan bill within the US Senate aimed at bolstering border security, emphasized the necessity for his caucus to reach a decision by February 6 regarding the initiation of discussions on the proposal.

Now, Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren has advocated for what she terms "mass deportation", emphasizing that the only border arrangement acceptable to conservatives should involve full funding for the construction of a border wall and the implementation of measures leading to a closed border.

Meanwhile, counterparts from Lankford's party within the House of Representatives advocated for abandoning the agreement, as per Reuters.

The bill slated for consideration in the Senate encompasses provisions not only for enhancing border security but also for extending assistance to US allies such as Ukraine and Israel.

A procedural vote for the Senate bill is scheduled for February 7, with 60 votes needed to advance to further deliberations on the Senate floor.

In light of these developments, Tomi Rae Augustus Lahren, an American conservative political commentator and television presenter took to her X/Twitter account, expressing, "The only border “deal” actual conservatives should consider is full funding for the wall and a closed border."

"Plus, mass deportation until the 10 million Biden let in are removed. Our border should stay closed until then!!".

The Republican Party finds itself deeply split on the matter, with notable figures such as Donald Trump, the leading contender for the party's presidential nomination, and House Speaker Mike Johnson vehemently expressing their opposition to the bipartisan border bill.

Senator James Lankford, in a statement to Reuters, emphasized the importance of bipartisan support, stating, "If it's not supported on both sides of the aisle, then we shouldn't do this."

Many social media users agreed with Lahren and criticized the bipartisan boder bill.

One comment read, "Agreed. The illegal immigration must stop."

"It's a terrible deal, the border needs to be CLOSED," noted a user.

"The border should be the only thing we spend money to secure. If Americans aren’t safe, we should not fund any other country!" said one user.

"Needs to stay closed," read a comment.

"Exactly true," agreed one user.

"Amen," said another.

Unveiling of landmark bill: Key provisions and potential impacts

This comes in the wake of the border bill's unveiling following months of negotiations, during which Senator Lankford, along with Democratic Senator Chris Murphy and independent Senator Kyrsten Sinema, managed to reach an agreement.

The bill allocates $118 billion in new spending, with significant portions earmarked for aiding Ukraine amidst its conflict with Russian forces, including $60.06 billion.

Additionally, $14.1 billion is designated to support Israel in its battle against Hamas, while approximately $20 billion is allocated for bolstering enforcement measures along the US-Mexico border.

Furthermore, the legislation grants the government emergency powers, enabling it to deny entry to migrants crossing the border and to swiftly expel those who have already entered the United States.

The US-Mexico border remains a pressing concern for Republicans, particularly with the surge in illegal crossings since President Biden, a Democrat, assumed office in 2021.

Border Patrol data indicates that approximately 2 million migrants were apprehended at the border in fiscal-year 2023, mirroring record-breaking figures seen during Biden's initial two years in office.

Should the bill secure passage in both the Senate and House, and receive President Biden's signature, it would mark a watershed moment in US immigration and border policy, potentially introducing the most substantial changes in decades.

President Biden, during a visit to Las Vegas, expressed hope for the bill's advancement, stating his desire for its passage in the Senate.
