WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump is being criticized for sharing a video on social media that contains an image of a painting of President Joe Biden bound with rope on the tailgate of a truck, the Associated Press reported.

The image appeared in a 20-second video shared by the GOP presumptive nominee on his Truth Social platform on Friday, March 29. According to the caption, it was captured on March 28 in Long Island, New York.

The video contains a passing truck with the inscription "Trump 2024" and flags that show support for police. The rear end of the vehicle had a mural of 81-year-old Biden with his hands and feet tied together with a rope.

Biden campaign condemns Donald Trump

The Biden campaign swiftly criticized the former president for sharing the video, which implied physical harm toward the incumbent.

"Trump is regularly inciting political violence and it's time people take him seriously — just ask the Capitol police officers who were attacked protecting our democracy on January 6," Biden campaign communications director Michael Tyler said.

Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance condemned the image, writing on X, "I know from experience how the Secret Service interacts with people who make threats against POTUS, even ones they can't carry out. This, from a former President, is totally out of bounds. It's time to stop letting Trump break the rules. Long past time."

However, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung retorted to the criticisms against the ex-president by arguing Democrats were weaponizing the justice system against the Trump family.

"That picture was on the back of a pickup truck that was traveling down the highway. Democrats and crazed lunatics have not only called for despicable violence against President Trump and his family, they are actually weaponizing the justice system against him," he said.

In addition, the US Secret Service said in a statement that it "does not confirm or comment on matters of protective intelligence."

Clinching the Republican nomination for a third time in a row, Trump has predicted an apocalyptic picture of the US if Biden enters the White House for a second term.

Speaking at an Ohio rally earlier this month, the White House hopeful warned of a "bloodbath for the country" if he does not get elected in November.

Similarly, he has echoed German dictator Adolf Hitler's anti-immigrant rhetoric, accusing the immigrants of "poisoning the blood of our country."

Internet blasts Donald Trump

Netizens lashed out at Trump for sharing the video that contained an image of hogtied Biden.

One user wrote on Facebook, "He is despicable!" And another person remarked, "He is a despicable sleazy conman. He belongs in jail."

"Trump is disgusting," an individual wrote on X.

A user added, "I think the whole planet should rebuke him! World leaders think he is a nut job already, this just amplifies how low he will go to feed his #MAGACult."

"This is not normal. Trump is a cancer," read a response.

Someone else stated, "It's drawing rebukes from all of us sane people. Trump is a Menace. He is a clear and present danger to America with his MAGA cult."

"Tfg is a vile human being. He is not fit to hold office," an outraged user said.

Another person added, "Violent rhetoric in political campaigning is never appropriate. Full stop."

"You are depraved and classless to post this video. I would find this vulgar and ignorant from an adolescent with a low intellect, To think it is posted by someone running for President is beyond comprehension," read a remark on Truth Social.
