WASHINGTON, DC: Republican Senator Lindsey Graham criticized President Joe Biden, claiming he "has screwed the world up every way you can," reported NBC News.

The South Carolina Senator made the harsh criticism in an interview on NBC's 'Meet the Press' when host Kristen Welker accused former president Donald Trump of aligning with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, referring to their recent meeting at Mar-a-Lago.

"Biden has screwed the world everywhere you can. Broken borders and the world is on fire," Graham fiercely responded, not yielding to Welker's remarks.

He further challenged Biden to "get in a room" with Trump and debate instead of reading a teleprompter, asserting, "If there is ever an election in the history of America that deserved a debate between the two candidates, it's this election."

After nearly sweeping the Super Tuesday primaries, the former president has challenged his successor for a debate "anytime, anywhere." However, Biden has hinted he might not get into a debate stage with his predecessor, saying, "It depends on his behavior."

Lindsey Graham denies Trump's control over Senate

Further into the interview, Welker pointed at a quote by GOP Sen Lisa Murkowski regarding Trump's influence over the upper chamber. Graham argued against his fellow senator's remarks.

"Let's just not even exist as a Senate if we have to ask permission from Donald Trump for everything we do," he said.

"I've voted against things that, you know, he doesn't like," Graham said, indicating the former president does not call shots in the Senate. "The point is, to Lisa: Would you support the idea that our allies should pay us back if they can when we're $34 trillion in debt?" he added.

Trump had been accused of pressuring the Republican Senators to kill the Biden-endorsed bipartisan border deal to deny the president a legislative victory ahead of the November election, given that the border crisis is one of the ace cards in the GOP candidate's presidential campaign. The bill failed to survive the Senate floor.

Lindsey Graham on Ukraine aid and Gaza war

Despite his support to Trump, the South Carolina Senator has clashed with him several times, including on the issue of Ukraine aid. Nevertheless, in the interview, he aligned with the ex-president's policy to provide aid in the form of a loan.

"This is 'America First' in action. It's not isolationism, but it is considering the needs of the American people," Graham said, siding with the White House hopeful's foreign policy approach. Nevertheless, he expressed his wish to visit Ukraine soon, saying, "I hope to tell them, 'The aid is coming.'"

Graham also criticized Biden's remarks on the Israel-Hamas war at the State of the Union address when he said Hamas could end the war upon releasing all the remaining hostages they captured on October 7.

"Is the president saying that if the hostages are released by Hamas, they can stay in power?" Graham asked, before adding that Trump "believes it's non-negotiable when it comes to Hamas" and should be "destroyed militarily.
