LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift has dropped her much anticipated ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ album along with 15 bonus tracks that she released shortly after.

As was expected, fans were waiting with bated breaths to see whether the 14-times Grammy-winning singer would name-drop (or at least include a diss track) about her ex Joe Alwyn, whom she dated for six years before breaking up in April 2023.

Swifties, as Taylor Swift's fans are known, are now of the opinion that the singer’s ‘The Black Dog’ from her surprise album alludes to the infidelity rumors of her ex-British boyfriend.

Taylor Swift's ‘The Black Dog’ is seemingly about Joe Alwyn

Swift released her much-anticipated 'TTPD’ album at midnight EST on Friday. Two hours later, at 2 am, she dropped another 15 songs under the name ‘Anthology’.

While several songs from the double album ponder on the topic of infidelity, one song in particular managed to capture the Swifties’ interest as being the track referring to Alwyn.

The ‘Lavender Haze’ singer’s fans think that Swift is actually shading Alwyn through the track titled ‘The Black Dog’, and referring to alleged cheating on his part, per RadarOnline.

The billionaire songstress croons in the song, "And your location, you forgot to turn it off / And so I watch as you walk into some bar called The Black Dog / And pierce new holes in my heart /You forgot to turn it off / And it hits me."

She pens later for the chorus, "I just don't understand how you don't miss me / In The Black Dog, when someone plays "The Starting Line"/ And you jump up, but she's too young to know this song / That was intertwined in the magic fabric of our dreaming / Old habits die screaming."

Following the song’s release several Swifties opined that the title is a direct reference to a pub in London, from where Alwyn is originally from.

In another song titled ‘Fortnight’, Swift seems to touch upon the subject of infidelity, when the ‘Cruel Summer’ crooner sings, "My husband is cheating, I wanna kill him."

Fans are left conflicted with 'The Black Dog'

After the song was released, several fans opined that Swift was probably shading Joe Alwyn through her track 'The Black Dog'. However, some fans even opined that the Swift is probably not referring to Alwyn's alleged infidelity.

One of the fans exclaimed, "U guys might have been right about Joe cheating . . ."

Someone else added, "THE CHEATING ALLEGATIONS WERE TRUE? Oh, Joe you are sooo f**ked."

Someone else, however, sympathized with Alwyn, saying, "I really remember how joe's hate train was forced ever since they broke up, y'all harassed him, his family, his costars and accused him of cheating called him jobless, poor and lots of nasty things just for him to be nothing of these but a depressed introvert."

"Wait wait... about The Black Dog... you're telling me that Joe Alwyn did the exact same thing that that guy Jeramey from Love is blind???? is this a common thing people do? They share their location but forget to turn it off while cheating?? #TSTTPD," said someone else.

Someone else added, "Wait wait wait is the black dog about joe cheating?????"

"The black dog was about joe alwyn cheating on her with a younger woman omg," said another social media user.
