NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rudy Giuliani's defamation trial drama does not seem to end very soon, giving the Internet ample chances to ridicule the former  attorney of Donald Trump.

Less than a week after a Washington, DC jury ordered Rudy Giuliani to pay $148 million in compensation to two Georgia election workers for falsely accusing them of ballot fraud in the 2020 election, he has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Social media is now flooded with a renewed wave of mockery and trolling directed towards the staunch Donald Trump supporter.

The former New York City mayor filed for bankruptcy, citing debts of $153 million, at the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, according to a report by the Daily Mail. Contradicting his declaration of financial downfall, he was spotted at a jewelry shop in Manhattan on December 19.

Rudy Giuliani's list of creditors

The filed court documents say Giuliani has only $10 million in assets, and his liabilities fall between $100 million and $500 million.

His bankruptcy declaration comes only a day after the DC federal judge ordered Giuliani to expedite the payment of $148 million to the Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss as the plaintiffs worried he might "find a way to dissipate [his] assets".

Daily Mail also reported that Hunter Biden was one of the creditors named in Giuliani's court filing; however, the amount was not mentioned. It also listed at least $700,000 to the Internal Revenue Service and more than $260,000 to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.

He also has a $1.4 million lawsuit against him by former lawyer Robert Costello for unpaid legal bills.

However, declaring bankruptcy will not free him from the amount he owes to Freeman and Moss, who sued him again for continuing to spread baseless allegations despite the court ruling.

Internet says Rudy Giuliani can move to Mar-a-Lago

The ex-Trump attorney is giving more and more reasons to trend in social media through incessant trolling and ridiculing.

Social media users even went to the extent of suggesting that since he became financially bankrupt for siding with "morally bankrupt" Donald Trump, he should move in with him at Mar-a-Lago, the former President's luxury resort club.

One user said, "Rudy should give Trump a call and have him sell off his assets to his MAGA cult for 100 times its value."

Another user remarked, "He chose to defend/side with someone who is morally bankrupt, became morally bankrupt himself (whatever little morals he had before were lost) and now he's financially bankrupt to match."

"Maybe Giuliani can move into Mar-a-Lago with TFG. I’m sure he would be welcome there," added a third user.

A fourth user quipped, "Packing up and heading to Mar-a lago?"

"Disbarred, bankrupt, indicted and still waiting for Donald to show the benefits of loyalty," read one reaction.

Another stated, "He can’t discharge the defamation case - maybe he wants to stop his lawyers collecting their fee."
