CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA: Jelly Roll has won over hearts by arranging for a group of county jail inmates in Charlottesville to attend his concert in the region, and also perform alongside him.

According to Parade, the country singer has been open about the multiple run-ins with law enforcement he faced himself before making his mark in the music industry and becoming a two-time Grammy nominee.

As such, he is more sympathetic to people in similar situations and has been stopping at jails and detention facilities while traveling across the country on his Beautifully Broken tour.

During his visit to Arkansas on October 22, Jelly Roll and his partner Bunnie XO also visited the Pulaski County Detention Center to interact with the female inmates in the CSI Reentry program, reported Billboard.

Jelly Roll's touching gesture after interaction with jail inmates

Before going up on stage at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville on October 30, Jelly Roll stopped by jail in Chesterfield, Virginia, to interact with the inmates.

A group of inmates participating in a music therapy program there performed some of his songs for the singer, providing him with an experience that he claimed "shook me to my core".

“I began to cry and weep in this cell with all these men, and these women, that were in there singing their soul out. They were singing all of my new album. I left there, and I couldn’t quit thinking about it,” said Jelly Roll.

Sharing his experience with the audience at his concert, he said he was so moved that he talked to the local sheriff to get permission for the inmates to be present at his show that day.

"I said ‘I know this sounds crazy, but I never got a chance to see if the dream could be real. Would you please bring those inmates to the show tonight so they can see the dream?’” he shared.

He offered to pay all expenses involved but requested that the inmates be allowed to wear "street clothes" and be free from restraints.

After bringing four inmates out on stage, Jelly Roll announced, "If anybody believes in second chances, it's a f***ing Jelly Roll show". As the audience erupted in cheers, they went on to perform a cover of Jelly Roll's new song, 'I'm Pretty'.
