NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have officially finalized their divorce, bringing an end to a legal process that has spanned nearly six years, Radar Online reported.
To commemorate this new chapter, Dewan shared an iconic image on her Instagram Story of Nicole Kidman celebrating her own divorce from Tom Cruise—a photo that has long symbolized freedom and relief.
Jenna Dewan shares Nicole Kidman’s iconic image
On her Instagram Story, Jenna Dewan posted the legendary image of Nicole Kidman joyfully strutting down a Los Angeles street after finalizing her divorce from Tom Cruise in 2001.
According to The Mirror, the iconic moment underscored her sheer joy after finalizing her divorce from Tom Cruise, as she was photographed with her arms in the air outside her lawyer’s office.
The dissolution of their marriage took seven months, and those images reportedly resonated with many, becoming a symbol of liberation and happiness following the end of a significant relationship.
Kidman and Cruise met on the set of 'Days of Thunder', began dating in late 1989, and were married from 1990 until their separation in 2001.
Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum filed for divorce after nine years of marriage
Jenna Dewan, 43, filed for divorce from Channing Tatum, 44, in October 2018 after nine years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the cause.
The couple first met on the set of the 2006 film 'Step Up', where their on-screen chemistry blossomed into a real-life romance.
They married in July 2009 and welcomed their daughter, Everly, in 2013.
The couple stipulated to the terms in a court filing and will avoid a trial scheduled to begin in December over the splitting of assets and custody of their 11-year-old daughter.
The protracted divorce proceedings involved negotiations over the division of assets, including profits from the successful 'Magic Mike' franchise.
Dewan argued that the franchise was a joint investment made during their marriage, entitling her to a share of the royalties from the movies, reality shows, and live performances.
Tatum contended that most of the franchise's success occurred after their separation in April 2018, saying they had decided to “lovingly separate as a couple” but remained best friends, as per ABC News.
After extensive legal discussions, the former couple reached an agreement and filed the necessary paperwork just weeks before their case was set to go to trial.
While the details of the settlement remain confidential, court records indicate that both parties agreed to waive claims for spousal support and to address any future disputes privately.
They have also agreed to share 50/50 custody of their daughter.
Focusing on fatherhood after the split, Tatum told AP in 2022, “Time just kind of got away,” and added, “Really, being a dad sort of just swept me away for almost four years. I kind of got lost in doing that.”
Dewan, meanwhile, has appeared in several dance films and now stars in ABC’s 'The Rookie'.
Ever since their split, both Tatum and Dewan have moved on with different people.
Tatum has been romantically linked with actress Zoe Kravitz since 2021 and got engaged in October 2023, while Dewan is engaged to actor Steve Kazee, with whom she shares a son named Callum and a girl, Rhiannon.
Dewan and Kazee announced their engagement on Instagram on February 18, 2020, with a photo of the couple sharing a kiss, according to People.
Their commitment to co-parenting Everly remains a central focus for both.
