Jennifer Aniston, 55, reveals lifelong struggle with crippling disorder after backlash over appearance
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Aniston has always been America’s sweetheart, but even the iconic 'Friends' star has faced her share of struggles.
Now, she’s opening up about her journey to self-acceptance, her relationship with health, and even her plans to embrace a more natural look in 2025.
Jennifer Aniston's evolving relationship with her body
For years, Jennifer Aniston has been celebrated for her drop-dead gorgeous looks and enviable physique, but the star admits her journey hasn’t been as effortless as it may seem.
Speaking to Allure, she shared how her relationship with her body has evolved, especially as she embraced fitness later in life.
“We’ve got to love our bodies. It’s doing the best it can. It’s been with us since the day we started, so we can’t be too hard on it,” Aniston said. “Of course, we’re all going to grow older, but how can we thrive as we grow older? And that is about giving your body the attention that it deserves.”
Jennifer revealed that her twenties were anything but glamorous, describing that period of her life as “a nightmare.” It wasn’t until her thirties and forties that she started to see the rewards of working out.
While she’s mastered the art of staying fit and fabulous, Aniston has had a longstanding struggle with sleep. 'The Morning Show' star opened up about her battle with insomnia, admitting that it has been a thorn in her side for over a decade.
“I really want to love it, and I am sure it wants to love me, but we have had a hard time, especially the last 10, 15 years,” she revealed. “It’s just hard to shut the brain down, hard to tell the committee to stop talking. I’ve had to shut the news off. I’ve had to give myself boundaries with information. You know what I mean?”
To combat her sleep woes, Jennifer has been working on her bedtime routine and hopes to improve her mental health by prioritizing what she calls “sleep hygiene.”
“I’ve been trying hard to put myself in bed during the week at 10 p.m., turn everything off and then just sit there and let the world come crashing in,” she said. “I’ve been trying to meet that challenge for myself. Some days you’re great and on point, and some days you’re just not.”
And when it comes to self-criticism, Aniston is all about cutting herself some slack: “I’m a big believer in trying not to be hard on yourself because the world is so mean right now and so aggressive and negative. So why would we do it to ourselves?”
Taking a natural turn for 2025
Looking ahead, Jennifer Aniston is reportedly planning to scale back her facial treatments after receiving backlash for her so-called “frozen” look. Sources revealed to Radar Online that the actress was shocked by the criticism she faced after a recent appearance.
“Jen was pretty shocked by all the backlash she got because she really didn’t think that she’d overdone it. But then everyone started talking about how obvious it was that she’d had work done,” the insider said.
The criticism hit home, especially when friends gently suggested she tone down her use of fillers.
“The photos of her puffy eyes were pretty hard to ignore, especially when friends were taking her aside to make the gentle suggestion that she might want to ease up on the filler a bit,” the source recalled.
“It was humiliating because she’s always been so meticulous about what she gets done, and she’s been pretty vocal about avoiding surgery and relying more on laser treatments. To have the whole world making fun of her plastic surgery fail was a huge wake-up call," they added.
On Brad Pitt, divorce, and moving forward
Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston is also making headlines for her approach to ex-husband Brad Pitt. Despite his finalized divorce from Angelina Jolie, we should not expect Jen to be sending any congratulatory messages.
“Jen isn’t looking to talk about Brad and Angelina’s divorce publicly, nor is she looking to reach out to Brad and offer any congratulations,” a source revealed.
The insider said Aniston will keep things polite and professional if she crosses paths with her famous ex.
“The next time they see each other, they’ll be cordial with each other; they have been in the recent past, and that won’t change,” the insider explained. “They will talk about life and mostly anything else, but they aren’t going to dive into his feelings about the divorce or anything like that.”
And as for Angelina?
“Angelina is not a talking point between them, and that will remain the same forever. Jen would love Brad to be happy first and foremost and believes he is happy,” the source added.
