Jennifer Garner shows off $7.9M home she built herself where Ben Affleck sought refuge amid marriage woes

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Garner showcased her love for cozy elegance and her dedication to creating a thriving family environment in a recent tour of her LA home.

In a video for Architectural Digest, she revealed her unique creation for her family, marking a rare moment of breaking her usual privacy rules.

Jennifer Garner calls herself a private person 

Jennifer Garner opened her doors for a video tour with Architectural Digest on Tuesday, September 3. During the tour, Garner shared how significant this space is to her, as it's the first home she’s ever designed and built for herself. 

“I’m such a private person about my home and here I’ve just taken you through the entire house. And really, it’s for a couple of reasons,” she explained in the video.

“I’ve never built anything all by myself before and I’m so proud of it. I am filled with gratitude every time I walk into my house. That I get to live here, that I’m so lucky to have my kids here,” she added.

Garner admitted that it's rare for her to reveal such a personal aspect of her life, but she’s glad she did, considering how proud she is of her accomplishments. She shares her children—Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12—with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck.

For the creation of her dream home, Jennifer Garner collaborated closely with the designer and architect duo Steve and Brooke Giannetti to bring her vision to life.

Initially, she searched for a ready-made home that suited her needs but quickly realized that wasn’t possible. “I  realized that I was going to need to move out of a dream house kind of scenario. I looked and looked for a house to move into, but I needed privacy, and any house that had privacy was more grand than I felt comfortable in,” she explained.

Despite having "never even made a Pinterest board before," Garner had a clear vision for her new home. Steve described the design as "soft and cozy," with a "natural quietness" that reflects Garner's personality.

Brooke added, "There's also something a bit whimsical about her. And she likes gentle shapes and curves. This place is kind of the house version of Jen's personality."

Among the home's highlights is a “slumber party room” for the kids, which Garner calls a “dream come true” for promoting family togetherness.

She highlights the significance of the bunk beds for sleep, making the space enjoyable for her children. Additionally, she notes her son’s Harry Potter-themed office under the stairs, showcasing the family's affection for the franchise.

In the kitchen, Jennifer Garner appreciates the “treehouse” vibe created by the wooden floors and cabinetry. Her outdoor space also includes a “little orchard” and an alternative clover lawn, reflecting her long-standing passion for farming.

Ben Affleck visited Jennifer Garner's new home amid Jennifer Lopez's split

In July, reports indicated that Ben Affleck was seen visiting Jennifer Garner at the very home she is now showcasing as a unique creation for her family.

According to Page Six, Affleck was reportedly seeking Garner's support to navigate his strained relationship with Jennifer Lopez.

The 52-year-old actor was photographed arriving at Garner’s new $7.9 million residence after she encouraged him to "work on his marriage" with Lopez, 55, before their eventual separation.

Lopez and Affleck initially got engaged in 2002 but called off their plans before marrying, ending their relationship in 2004. Jennifer Lopez later married singer Marc Anthony, with whom she shares 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, and was also engaged to retired Yankees star Alex Rodriguez.

Ben Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005, and their divorce was finalized in 2018.

The 'Gigli' co-stars reignited their romance in April 2021 and tied the knot the next year in Las Vegas.
