Garner, considered 'sweet' and formerly married to Affleck, appeared to throw shade at Lively, who starred with him in the 2010's 'The Town'.

The moment that sparked the speculation came from a video Garner posted on Instagram on August 11, 2024, promoting 'Deadpool & Wolverine'.

In the video clip, Jennifer Garner tours the set of 'Deadpool & Wolverine' and stops at a large stone statue, saying, "This is where I go to commune with Blake Lively, see how she’s doing.”

The sculpture is of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch from 'Doctor Strange' in the Multiverse of Madness, Perez Hilton noted.

Garner captioned the post on TikTok, “Filmmaker note. Yes, of course. It’s a beautiful Scarlet Witch."

This caption and the on-set comment sparked discussions online, with TikTok users connecting it to the rumored history between Lively and Ben Affleck.

TikTok user Stephanie Tleiji posted the video and said, “Jennifer was calling Blake Lively a witch, maybe, just maybe, that’s because Blake Lively allegedly slept with her husband.”

Tleiji added, “It’s a pretty wild story,” as she revisited rumors about the alleged affair.

At the time of 'The Town's release in 2010, Blake Lively and Ben Affleck’s close connection drew attention, especially since Affleck was still married to Garner.

The film was directed by Affleck and became a key moment in Lively’s career.  According to Star Magazine, Affleck played a big role in casting Lively, citing her looks and acting ability.

“He just lights up whenever she’s around; he’s practically giddy. He’s certainly not acting like a married man,” an insider was quoted as saying, according to Celebitchy.

The same insider added, “One of the first things he told me was, ‘Blake Lively is so much fun!’ And when I asked about his family, he talked about missing the kids but didn’t mention Jen at all, which was really unusual.”

They also claimed Affleck was spending free time with Lively both on and off set during the movie's production.

In another interview from 2012 with Anderson Cooper, Ben Affleck said Blake Lively was “fabulous as you can see, she’s a gorgeous young woman.”

Months earlier, Instagram user Alexis Nicole also revisited the "scandal", especially after news broke about Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce.

“The Blake Lively, Ben Affleck and Jen Garner The Town Scandal was WILD,” Nicole captioned her video.

She added that Lively was then leaving her relationship with Penn Badgley and said, “Who better to hunt for than Ben Affleck.”

Nicole claimed there was “a little bit more chemistry” between Affleck and Lively on set than what Jennifer Garner might have been “comfortable with.”

Comments on Tleiji’s TikTok echoed the same speculation. “I thought everyone knew this. There were so many rumors about their affair. Blake’s acting was atrocious so her ‘talent’ couldn’t have gotten her the role,” one person wrote.

Another added, “I think Blake and Ben definitely would have cheated. I think Jen is a little more classy than this though.”

“That drama was wild! Definitely a crazy time for those celebs back then,” said another.
