Jennifer Lopez halts autograph session after inquiry about Diddy
Jennifer Lopez was trying to engage fans at an autograph session during a recent appearance when an individual in the crowd said, "JLo, do you have any comments about P Diddy and the allegations?"
Lopez immediately stopped collecting autographs and hurried out with her team to avoid crowds. "Don't leave," others said, calling after the superstar.
Despite the entreaties, she left and disappeared via a door. Her silence on the matter served to continue her pattern of avoiding any discussion of the ongoing accusations against Diddy, per The Mirror.
Among other things, Diddy is accused of serious trafficking and racketeering charges in several civil lawsuits. Diddy's ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura made the initial accusation, and the two of them quickly settled with Diddy refuting the allegations.
However, Diddy accepted "responsibility" for his conduct after a video of the rapper assaulting Cassie resurfaced months later.
Jennifer Lopez reportedly split up with Diddy because of drastically different lifestyles
Jennifer Lopez and Diddy dated from 1999 to 2001, but their relationship wasn't easy. Among the many problems that plagued their time together was Diddy's strange and cryptic threat, which left many confused.
The 'Love Don't Cost a Thing' singer previously recalled that Diddy wanted a divorce, although they were never married. "A lot. He told me many times, I want a divorce," Lopez told Rolling Stone in 2001 when the two were still together.
"I would be away a lot, or he would, he couldn’t go far, whatever, but he would say, so, where do I send the paper?" she said at the time.
Despite the spotlight, the couple usually kept their relationship as discrete as possible. Lopez preferred to keep more of the specifics of their courtship "sacred and private."
Though she was a "homebody" and he enjoyed going out, she stated at the time that their differences in lifestyle and preferred ways of spending their time were the reason for their breakup.
Following their split, Lopez acknowledged that Diddy had worn her out. "It wasn’t a great time in my life. It was scary," she told Vanity Fair of her two years with Diddy.
She said, "And we broke up many times before that, and got back together and broke up again, and nobody knew about it. It was very tempestuous. Towards the end it was emotionally exhausting. It was good that I was young."
