Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck spend time together before actor's birthday

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez recently spent time with Ben Affleck at his Brentwood rental home over the weekend after a period of separation ahead of his birthday on August 15.

The visit took place on Sunday, August 11. Lopez also accompanied Affleck's son Samuel, 12, to the mall earlier that day.

Jennifer Lopez, 55, who shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, is keen to bond with Ben Affleck's children before the school year starts.

Affleck and his ex-wife Jennifer Garner have three children: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel.

"Just because she's not with Ben doesn't mean that she doesn't care about his kids," a source told People.

"She always cared about them. She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year. Now when she's back in L.A. she wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes and Violet is off to college," the source further added.

A previous report on August 6 from People noted that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had not seen each other for weeks.

"They’re moving on separately. Jennifer is trying to find a new home to start fresh," a source told the outlet on August 6.

"JLo and Ben are not speaking to one another -- in person or over the phone," which has been "really slowing down their divorce," TMZ reported. They also have a prenup with only one asset to divide, a  Beverley Hills estate, which is on the market.

 Affleck and Lopez are divorcing without the help of an attorney, the outlet mentioned.

Instead, their business managers, who are in charge of the financial details, are managing everything. Because there is a communication gap between the two and the process is complicated.

Lopez is “furious” and “humiliated” amid the whole thing, and she “has not fully accepted it is over," according to Page Six. But it’s been looking more and more done by the day.

Ben Affleck 'doing well' amid split rumors from Jennifer Lopez

Ben Affleck, who will turn 52 on August 15, is "doing well" and thrives when busy, having been working nonstop, according to the source who talked to the outlet.

"The kids are still off from school. He spends a lot of time with them too. It hasn’t been the easiest summer for him either. He’s just trying to stay focused and make every day as good as possible," the source told People.

Affleck and Lopez's second wedding anniversary in July passed without any public acknowledgment, and signs of trouble in their relationship had been evident since May, with reports suggesting they were living separately.

In July, Lopez celebrated her birthday without Affleck. It was the same day Affleck closed on a new house for himself.

Despite these challenges, a source shared with People that Lopez is "having a good summer," even amid ongoing issues.

"She's been off and able to focus on what's next. She’s enjoyed spending time with her kids, family and friends. She always has a good attitude even when things are not perfect," the insider added.
