A friend close to the couple shared on Page Six, "They got caught up in the moment. Jennifer had wanted this wedding — the gowns, the friends, all the trappings and trimmings — for decades,"

Their rekindled romance in 2022 culminated in a lavish ceremony at Affleck’s $8 million Georgia estate, where Lopez stunned in three Ralph Lauren gowns. 

The friend noted that both Affleck and Lopez were nostalgic, trying to fulfill a dream from twenty years ago. Now, they’ve resolved their past issues and realized that their relationship isn't meant to last. 

"They’ve turned the page on all the unfinished business of 20-plus years ago. They’ve seen things through to the end — and they know for sure now that they are not built for the long haul," the friend added. "No further unanswered questions. They’ve seen all they need to see, and it’s over. In the end, it’s gonna be the most elaborate and expensive exercise in closure ever."

In May, a source said that Ben Affleck felt as though the past two years had been a "fever dream" and joked, "If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity, he would. He feels like the last two years was just a fever dream …"

The couple has put their $68 million Beverly Hills home up for sale, and Affleck has already purchased a $20 million house in Brentwood, closer to his three children and ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. 

Meanwhile, Lopez has been house-hunting in Los Angeles and spent the past month in the Hamptons. "Ben’s found his new home, Jen’s about to select hers. It’s absolutely done and there is zero interest, inclination or reason to turn back," the friend said. 

Affleck did not attend Lopez’s 55th birthday celebration in the Hamptons, which featured a 'Bridgerton'-themed party and a brunch. “Her summer isn’t exactly what she originally had planned, but she’s making the best of it. She’s always grateful for family time,” a source told People.
