LASVEGAS, NEVADA: Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez took a definitive stance in support of Puerto Ricans at a rally for Kamala Harris on the night of Thursday, October 31, addressing distasteful remarks by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a recent Donald Trump rally in New York.

Hinchcliffe's description of Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage" has ignited widespread anger within the Latino community among others.

The pop star slammed former President Donald Trump on Thursday, saying, “He has consistently worked to divide us. At Madison Square Garden, he reminded us who he really is and how he really feels.”

She further added, “It wasn’t just Puerto Ricans that were offended that day. It was every Latino in this country. It was humanity and anyone of decent character.”

“I’m a lover, OK? You guys know that about me. I am a lover, I am not a fighter,” Lopez commented, apparently alluding to her well-documented romantic history.

She said, “I am not here to trash anyone, or bring them down. I know what that can feel like, and I wouldn’t do it to my worst enemy, or even when facing the biggest adversary I think America has internally ever had.”

After presenting Kamala Harris' extensive resume and her history of advocacy, Lopez energized the crowd, tapping into her Puerto Rican roots, as per The Wrap.

“It’s time for us to show up for her. It’s time for us to all answer ‘presente,’” Lopez remarked. “I am an American woman. I am the daughter of Guadalupe Rodríguez and David Lopez, a proud daugher and son of Puerto Rico. I am Puerto Rican.”

“You can’t even spell American without ‘Rican,’”Lopez remarked with a hint of irony, before her emotions once again seemed to emerge.

She went on to say, “I promised myself I wouldn’t get emotional, but you know what? We should be emotional. We should be upset, we should be scared and outraged. We should. Our pain matters, we matter. You matter. Your voice and your vote matters.”

The singer expressed her support for the Harris campaign on Sunday, October 27, following Tony Hinchcliffe's contentious comments at Trump's rally in New York City.

The Latina singer, together with Bad Bunny and Ricky Martin, shared a video from the Harris Campaign, alleging that Trump is indifferent to fellow Americans living in Puerto Rico.

Earlier in the month, Lopez motivated her fans to register to vote as the election day neared.

“Your vote is your voice and your power and our voices are louder together,” she said in a video released on October 10 in partnership with When We All Vote.
