Jennifer Lopez reveals how she explained 'difficult' divorce from Ben Affleck to her 17-year-old twins

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez opened up about a challenging time in her life, revealing how it affected her relationship with her children.

The 55-year-old performer shared how she communicated with her 17-year-old twins, Emme and Max, during her split from Ben Affleck and other personal setbacks over the past year.

The singer spoke about her recent personal struggles in an interview ahead of her upcoming world tour.

“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it,” Lopez said during her interview with El Pais.

She revealed, “And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”

In addition to her divorce, Lopez also canceled a planned tour. However, she said she is now in a much better place and looking forward to the next chapter.

“I’m happier that I’m a step further along than I was a year ago, two years ago, three years ago, I’m proud of myself for that and I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times, that they’re stronger and better because of it,” Lopez said according to People.

“So, it’s a great time to go out there and dance and sing and have a good time with everybody,” Lopez added.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were married in July 2022 and split after two years. Despite their separation, both families remain close.

In April, Lopez’s twins joined Ben Affleck and his children—Samuel, 13, Seraphina, 16, and Violet, 19—at the premiere of his film 'The Accountant 2'.

“It’s a great night. The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited,” said Ben Affleck in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“I’m proud of the movie, I love the movie and I love when all the kids come out. It’s really fun, it’s exciting.”

“For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” Affleck added.

“I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s an enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to," he said further.
