LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez recently addressed ‘The Bear’ star Ayo Edebiri’s hurtful comments about her career when they jointly appeared on an early February episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’.

During an interview with Variety, Lopez -- who is currently promoting her comeback music album ‘This Is Me…Now’ -- said that Edebiri was “mortified” and earnestly apologized to her before the show went live.

Jennifer Lopez said Ayo Edebiri apologized to her

In the interview published Tuesday, February 13, Lopez recalled, “She came to my dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things,” referring to Edebiri’s words insinuating the ‘Mother’ star’s fame was "one long scam.”

The 54-year-old star continued, “She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck and she actually got to hear me perform.”

“She was just like, ‘I’m so f**king sorry, it was so awful of me,'” said the two-time Grammy nominee.

The ‘Let’s Get Loud’ songstress further shared that she has heard similar things throughout her career. She said, “I’ve heard similar things said about me throughout my career, so it really didn’t affect me.”

What did Ayo Edebiri say about Jennifer Lopez?

Edebiri, 28, appeared on the ‘Scam Goddess’ podcast in 2020 where she responded controversially to host Laci Mosley’s claim that Lopez’s “whole career is one long scam.”

The Emmy-winning actress, then 24, said, “Well, that’s the thing — she thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her.”

She continued, “I think she thinks that she’s still good, even though she’s not singing for most of these songs…A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J.Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio.’ Like, ‘J.Lo was busy.’ Doing what? Not singing, obviously.”

Ayo Edebiri referred to the faux pas later during SNL sketch

The 'mortified' Edebiri not only apologized profusely to Lopez but also referred to the controversy later during her 'Saturday Night Live' stint. Appearing on the game show sketch of host Kenan Thompson where every contestant is asked to recognize their rude social media behavior, Edebiri referred to the incident obliquely.

Edebiri's character panics at one point and says, “OK. We get it. It’s wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid."

"But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online," concluded Edebiri.
