NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News host Jesse Watters has once again ignited controversy with his views on masculinity, drawing widespread criticism on social media.

On Wednesday’s episode of 'The Five', Watters expanded his ever-growing list of what he believes defines a “real man,” taking specific aim at Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) for his use of a straw while drinking a milkshake.

Jesse Watters' new rules for masculinity

Jesse Watters declared that “real men” should never drink from a straw because it requires them to purse their lips, which he described as “very effeminate,” according to The Irish Star.

This comment came after Walz defended himself against previous Fox News criticism over drinking a milkshake with a straw.

Watters mocked the governor, sarcastically dubbing him “Tampon Tim.”

“Men don’t wave simultaneously with both hands,” he insisted, adding, “We wave with one hand, not both hands at the same time.”

His co-host Greg Gutfeld quickly countered, joking, “Men don’t wave at all, Jesse" and Watters replied, “We salute.”

Jesse Watters' past criticisms and arbitrary gender norms

Over the years, Jesse Watters has outlined various behaviors that, according to him, are unmanly.

Among them, he has condemned men who eat soup in public, men who cross their legs, men who take bubble baths alone, men who go grocery shopping with their wives, men who lick ice cream in public, and men who wish other men a happy birthday.

Watters has also taken aim at the political left, accusing Democrats of “feminizing themselves in order to win elections” and, as a result, losing not only the election but also their masculinity.

He further claimed that “real men don’t talk about masculinity” and that they never use the word “misogyny.”

Social media backlash over Jesse Watters' comments

Following his comments, social media users swiftly responded with ridicule and sarcasm, calling out the absurdity of Jesse Watters’ masculinity rules.

One user tweeted, “What doesn't make Jesse Watters insecure?" Another quipped, “The insecurity lmao. Just drink the milkshake, Jesse. Nobody cares.”

"My rule for men...don't listen to anything Jesse Watters has to say," a netizen commented. Someone opined, "Men who have rules for men tend to have deep-seated psychological issues they’re desperately trying to hide."

Jesse Watters defends his remarks

Despite the backlash, Jesse Watters attempted to downplay his comments, claiming that his so-called rules were intended as jokes and not to be taken seriously.

“I have rules for men. They are just funny, they are not that serious,” he said on air.
