WASHINGTON, DC: Following the vice presidential debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz on Tuesday, October 1, Fox News host Jesse Watters chose to highlight Vance's looks rather than his debate performance.

"He looked beautiful tonight," Watters remarked during a panel discussion.

"He looked humble. He looked earnest, sharp—20 years younger than Walz."

Fox News personalities praise JD Vance's debate composure amid Tim Walz's missteps

According to the Daily Beast, Jesse Watters’ comments were part of a wave of compliments from Fox personalities regarding JD Vance's demeanor during the debate. Many noted his composure contrasted sharply with Tim Walz’s verbal missteps, including comments about school shooters and his past as a “knucklehead” regarding the Tiananmen Square massacre.

Laura Ingraham noted, “I don’t think I have ever seen a Republican so deftly maneuver what was smug and arrogant bias on the part of those moderators.”

She praised Vance for handling questions designed to make Republicans appear unfavorable, stating, “He showed us his humanity and also his knowledge of the issues. I don’t think he could’ve done better under the circumstances.”

Dana Perino echoed this sentiment, pointing out that the Democrats had attempted to lower expectations for Walz, ultimately resulting in an underwhelming performance.

“The only problem is for Democrats, they underperformed because the expectation should have been even lower than that,” she said.

While Watters acknowledged Vance's strengths, he also cautioned that Republicans shouldn't dismiss Walz entirely.

“Walz didn’t have a terrible night,” he stated.

“He didn’t screw up that badly. He had a few moments but I’m sure Democrats are kind of pleased with it. No blood drawn, but in a tight race like that, I think JD performed well.”

During the 90-minute televised debate hosted by CBS News and moderated by Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan, Vance and Walz clashed over various issues like abortion and immigration.
