LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Popstar-turned-business mogul Jessica Simpson is taking decisive steps to safeguard her $210 million fortune following the announcement of her split from Eric Johnson

The couple, who married in July 2014 after four years of dating, ended their 10-year marriage earlier this week. Together, they share three children: daughter Maxwell, 12, son Ace, 11, and daughter Birdie, 5.

According to sources close to Jessica Simpson, the pop star turned business mogul has been reaching out to lawyers to safeguard her fortune. A showbiz insider told Radar Online, "Jess has contacted a lawyer because her fortune eclipses Eric's $10 million and she fears he'll move to try and grab half of her pot."

The source added, "His team will argue that he raised the family and tended to her needs while she was making movies and growing her business empire and that could cost her big time if she doesn't get a team of big-name attorneys on the case and quickly."

The insider further revealed, "She's out to destroy his case before it even gets off the ground." This comes after Simpson listed her opulent Hidden Hills estate for $17.9 million, signaling a major shift in her life.

The 13,274-square-foot mansion, which she purchased in 2013 from Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne for $11.5 million, has been a central part of her family’s life for nearly a decade. Although it was initially listed for $22 million in September 2023, the property was later taken off the market.

Jessica Simpson's $210 million fortune has been built over years of hard work across multiple industries. Growing up outside of Abilene, Texas, she started her career with gospel groups, eventually catching the attention of Columbia Records.

This led to a tour with the boy band 98 Degrees. Her debut album went double platinum, quickly boosting her fame with 1.9 million copies sold in the US. Simpson solidified her place as an A-list singer and songwriter with the release of her quadruple-platinum album 'In This Skin' in 2003.

In addition to her music career, Simpson expanded into television, hosting documentaries and serving as a mentor on various series. She made her film debut in 2005 as Daisy Duke in 'The Dukes of Hazzard', which grossed over $111 million worldwide. She went on to star in films such as 'Blonde Ambition' (2007) and 'Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous' (2008).

Simpson also established herself as a successful entrepreneur, launching her own beauty products, handbags, lingerie, and shoe lines. In 2011, she secured a multimillion-dollar deal with WeightWatchers and, in 2012, introduced a maternity clothing line and her fragrance.

After a long hiatus, Simpson returned to music in November 2024 with her first album in over a decade.
