LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Acclaimed rapper and songwriter Jhene Aiko gave it back to the heartless comments she faced after her home burned down in the Los Angeles wildfires.

The devastating wildfires have destroyed the homes of several people, including some celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Jeff Bridges, and others in Los Angeles.

Jhene Aiko responds to negative comments on her post

On Thursday, January 9, Jhene Aiko shared that she and her children had lost their home in the blaze. She wrote in an Instagram post, "Me and my children's home is gone" referring to her daughter, Namiko, 16, whom she shares with ex O'Ryan, and her son, Noah, 2, whom she shares with her longtime partner, Big Sean.

She continued, "Burned to the ground with all of our things inside. Lord have mercy."

Aiko added that while she was "thankful" for her and her family's safety, she was devastated to have to start again "from scratch". She wrote that her heart was heavy.

Notably, even though many well-wishers and fans posted positive messages, some weren't so sympathetic because of Aiko's wealth. This made the singer reply to the trollers.

She wrote, "The fact some of you think I have Paris Hilton money is wild. I don't got it like that."

She added that it's also her second house fire after her family home burned down when she was a kid. The singer continued, "When I was in the 2nd grade, our home burned down with everything in it."

Aiko further mentioned, "I never understood why some of the kids at school were so mean about it, because they thought we were rich when we weren't. But they thought we were rich because we had love!!"

Aiko added that even though her financial circumstances have improved since then, she still works hard for what she has.

The rapper mentioned, "I am fortunate enough to be in a better position than back then. And I pray I can have as much grace as my mother did during that time. I work very hard for my family."

Notably, Aiko reportedly purchased the Palisades property in 2023 for $5 million after listing her Encino mansion for sale in 2022, according to BuzzFeed.
