WASHINGTON, DC: Jimmy Fallon made cutting remarks about President Joe Biden's Covid-19 diagnosis during the opening monologue of one of the recent episodes of 'The Tonight Show', according to Daily Mail.

A similar path was taken by political satirist Bill Maher, the host of HBO's 'Real Time'.

On Wednesday, July 17, the White House announced that Biden had tested positive for Covid-19 following an event in Las Vegas and would be isolating at his Rehoboth Beach residence in Delaware, where he will "self-isolate and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time."

How did late-night talk show hosts react to Joe Biden testing positive for Covid-19?

During his monologue, Jimmy Fallon joked, "On the bright side... it's the first positive news he's had in months."

He went on to mock the 81-year-old incumbent president by saying, "That's right - Biden has Covid. Luckily he can't spread it because Democrats have been distancing themselves from him since the debate," referring to the growing calls for Biden to step aside over concerns on his declining health.

"Biden had fatigue, a cough, and brain fog... then he got Covid," further quipped the late-night host, adding, "Thankfully, Biden is expected to make a full recovery - and his doctors say he'll be back to 60 percent in no time."

On Friday night's installment of 'Real Time', Maher poked fun at Biden. He shared a clip of the episode on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "Good news: Joe Biden has only minor COVID symptoms: a headache, a loss of smell, and an inability to see the writing on the wall."

Bill Maher previously predicted date on which Joe Biden will likely drop out of 2024 race

During a recent appearance on 'The Rubin Report', Bill Maher asserted that there is "no chance" the octogenarian will be the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, suggesting he will be forced to exit the race due to mounting pressure.

In a discussion with Dave Rubin, a conservative commentator and former Democrat, Maher proposed that the Democratic Party could still turn the situation around by nominating a moderate and charismatic candidate.

He remarked, "This is a great opportunity, America likes new. It almost doesn't matter who it is. Just someone new. The less we know about them the better. Just get everybody who is not 100 years old, got a 'D' by their name, and is sort of a centrist and you can win this election. Just give us that choice."

On a previous episode of 'Real Time', Maher predicted the date he believes Biden will likely exit the race, offering a positive view of potential replacements, such as California Governor Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, while asserting that "Biden is toast."

He humorously picked August 9 as the date when he believed the incumbent would withdraw his reelection bid, drawing parallels to the historical resignation of Richard Nixon in 1974.

Internet reacts as Jimmy Fallon and Bill Maher roast Joe Biden following Covid-19 diagnosis

Netizens shared their thoughts as the late-night hosts took shots at Joe Biden following his Covid-19 diagnosis, especially amid mounting calls for him to step down.

One remarked, "I find absolutely nothing funny about the Biden Presidency. It has been an absolute disaster for America," and another said, "Democrats never fail being backstabbers even to their own and specifically someone they elected and voted for as a nominee a few weeks ago."

"These late night hosts have had so much material to use on Biden the last four years. It makes me sick how they just ignored it and trashed Trump for years. They are part of the propaganda," expressed a person.

Someone else stated, "Funny but still sad that he is ending his long political career on such a low note. Not honoring or respected," while another person argued, "Poor old Joe sighing with relief that Covid may have given him a way out without damaging his ego and self esteem, however it is too little too late."

"Fallon is a sycophant who backed Biden until it wasn't convenient or helpful to himself any longer," shared one more.

"The key in all of this is that the Democrat brand has been damaged beyond repair. No matter who is shoved into Biden’s place, they will be viewed as another self-serving, egotistical, Democrat serving the interests of the Democrat power brokers and not the voters," wrote an individual.

A netizen remarked, "Democrat rule number one. Follow your party in lockstep. Fallon is a tool to entertain the less intelligent left. Mission accomplished."
