LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', host Jimmy Kimmel humorously suggested that actor Sebastian Stan might need to consider returning to Romania if Donald Trump secures a second term as president in the upcoming election.

Stan, known for portraying a young Trump in the controversial film 'The Apprentice', was caught off guard by Kimmel's playful warning. 'The Apprentice' examines Trump's career as a real estate businessman in New York in the 1970s and 1980s.

During a recent episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', host Jimmy Kimmel asked Sebastian Stan, who moved to New York from Romania at age 12, if he still held Romanian citizenship.

When Stan confirmed, Kimmel quipped, “Okay, good, because you’re probably gonna have to go back there if he wins.”

Stan responded with laughter and a light-hearted shrug, saying, “Hey, you know what man? In this life… You gotta have an honest living. That’s the most important thing.”

The conversation took a nostalgic turn as Stan recounted his unique experience of moving to the US, recalling seeing bananas for the first time due to the scarcity of such fruits in Romania during communism.

He humorously noted, “Or palm trees! Which you didn’t see in New York.”

Kimmel then added a jab about how a Trump victory might mean a return to a banana-less existence for Stan, saying, “No more bananas for you!”

Kimmel, who has had a long-running feud with Trump, recently involved his wife, Molly McNearney, in their banter. She made an appearance on the show, delivering a pointed message to Trump, urging him to retreat to Mar-a-Lago and let a “competent woman take over".

What is the controversy over 'The Apprentice' about?

'The Apprentice', directed by Ali Abbasi, depicts a young Trump, played by Stan, collaborating with lawyer Roy Cohn, portrayed by Jeremy Strong, to carve out a niche in New York City's business world during the 1970s.

The film has stirred controversy, especially because of a contentious scene between Trump and his first wife, Ivana Trump, prompting discussions of potential legal action from Trump’s campaign.

The film also features Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, Martin Donovan as Fred Trump, and Catherine McNally as Mary Anne Trump.

'The Apprentice' is set to hit theaters on October 11. Ali Abbasi explained that the movie not only explores how lawyer Roy Cohn helped shape Trump but also critiques the American legal system, highlighting “the inherent corruption” that allowed figures like Cohn to manipulate power.

Dan Snyder, the billionaire former owner of the NFL’s Washington Commanders, invested in 'The Apprentice' believing it would present a flattering image of Trump.

After discovering the film depicted Trump allegedly undergoing liposuction, and exhibiting various despicable behaviors, Snyder was reportedly furious. Following a preview in February, he enlisted lawyers to attempt to block the film’s release.

However, Kinematics’ president, Emanuel Nunez, insisted that all creative decisions were made independently of Snyder.

After premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May, 'The Apprentice' faced challenges in securing a US distributor, with some speculating it was being suppressed for political reasons.

Ultimately, Kinematics sold its stake, allowing independent distributor Briarcliff Entertainment to secure the US and Canada release.
