LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent episode of his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel slammed Donald Trump over his 2020 election subversion case, documents from which were unsealed on Wednesday.

Among various troubling allegations, Kimmel was particularly taken aback by the revelations regarding Trump’s interactions with former Vice President Mike Pence.

Trump’s indifference to Pence’s safety amid Jan 6 chaos raises alarms

Notably, Trump allegedly responded indifferently when informed that Vice President Mike Pence had been moved to a secure location for his safety, saying, “So what?”

An aide testified that they rushed to alert Trump while he watched Fox News coverage of the riot, hoping he would act to protect Pence, but he did not.

This incident raises serious concerns about Trump's concern for Pence’s safety amid the chaos, especially as rioters threatened him with chants of 'Hang Mike Pence'.

Jimmy Kimmel draws parallels between Trump and Pence and Netflix's 'Baby Reindeer'

“I knew Trump pressured Mike Pence to break the law. I just didn’t know how many times he did it,” Kimmel quipped during his monologue.

He humorously likened Pence to Trump’s 'Baby Reindeer', referencing a popular true crime mini-series that premiered on Netflix in April 2024. This series centers on a man being stalked by a woman whose obsession escalates throughout the narrative.

Kimmel elaborated on this analogy by sharing a particularly troubling excerpt from the court filing: “On December 25, when Pence called the defendant to wish him a Merry Christmas, the defendant raised the certification and told Pence that he had discretion in his role as President of the Senate. Pence emphatically responded, ‘You know I don’t think I have the authority to change the outcome.’”

Kimmel remarked, “Can you imagine calling a guy to wish him a Merry Christmas, and he’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, whatever, I need you to commit some treason for me’?”

Kimmel highlights Pence's efforts to guide Trump, only to be met with threats

He pointed out Pence’s attempts to guide Trump back to reason, stating, “Pence tried everything to steer him right. He tried to convince him to just run again in four years.”

According to the filing, Pence acted as a friend during this turbulent time, encouraging Trump to remain optimistic when news outlets declared Biden the winner.

However, Kimmel noted, “When Pence was like, ‘Keep your head up,’ Trump’s response was, ‘I’m gonna put your head up in a noose.’ And sure enough he did.”

Kimmel wrapped up his segment with a striking observation: “I feel like we, as a country, are not paying enough attention to the fact that the reason Mike Pence was not on the debate stage last night is because Trump tried to hang him like a human pair of truck nuts.”
