JK Rowling shares parody video after Emma Watson speaks on their rift: 'Here for the spoofs'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson broke her silence on her rift with author JK Rowling during an appearance on the 'Jay Shetty Podcast'. The disagreement stemmed from differing views on transgender issues. Following Watson’s comments, Rowling responded by sharing a parody video of the interview, mocking the actor.

On the September 24 episode of 'On Purpose With Jay Shetty,' Watson discussed Rowling’s past remarks, including the author’s tweet saying she would not forgive Watson and co-star Daniel Radcliffe.
Watson said, “I really don't believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, means that I can't and don't treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with."
She emphasized maintaining relationships with people whose opinions differ from hers and said meaningful conversation matters more than disagreements. Watson added, “I think the thing that I'm most upset about is that a conversation was never made possible. I always will remain open. I just don't want to say anything that continues to weaponize a really toxic debate and conversation, which is why I don't comment or continue to comment. Not because I don't care about her or about the issue, but because the way that the conversation is being had feels really painful to me."

Rowling reacted to Watson’s interview by sharing a parody video from satirist Intel Lady on X (formerly Twitter), which spoofed Watson’s remarks about reconciliation. Rowling praised the video, writing, “I’m here for all the spoofs."
The video impersonates Watson, highlighting the contradiction between expressing “so much love” for Rowling while standing “shoulder-to-shoulder” with those who oppose the author
Background of Watson-Rowling rift

The rift began in 2020 when Rowling shared her views on the transgender community, which many considered transphobic. Watson responded on Twitter, “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren't who they say they are. I want my trans followers to know that I and so many others around the world see you, respect you, and love you for who you are.”
Other 'Harry Potter' stars, including Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Eddie Redmayne, publicly supported Watson and the trans community.
