JoJo Siwa splits from girlfriend Dakayla Wilson just three months after confirming relationship

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: JoJo Siwa has confirmed the end of her relationship with Dakayla Wilson, just three months after they began dating. The 21-year-old star revealed that she and the 'So You Think You Can Dance' alum have gone their separate ways. 

This announcement comes months after Siwa publicly confirmed her relationship in August, when she excitedly told a dance class that she had a girlfriend.

This marks the second time Siwa’s relationship has been short-lived, as she also dated TikTok star Avery Cyrus in 2022, but that relationship had also ended after only three months.

What did JoJo Siwa say about her split from Dakayla Wilson?

During her recent appearance at the 11th Annual American Reality Television Awards on Monday, November 18, JoJo Siwa revealed that she and Dakayla Wilson will be spending the holidays apart. 

Speaking to People, Siwa explained, "We have gone our separate ways, but she is an amazing girl. And I got my own fun holiday plans, and I know she's got her family that she's spent the holidays with. I'm happy for her that she has [them]."

JoJo Siwa and Dakayla Wilson went viral on social media after sharing a video where they were seen hugging and screaming in excitement after Siwa confirmed their relationship before a studio dance class.

The video was captioned, "Cats outta the bag." Wilson reposted the video on her social media with the caption, "Surprise shawtyyyyy."

After going public, Siwa also posted a photo of herself and Wilson holding hands on Instagram Stories, captioning it, "Perfect Day."

The pair first met when Siwa served as a judge on Wilson's season of 'So You Think You Can Dance', where Wilson finished in second place. A month later, Siwa opened up about her decision to make their relationship public, explaining to People that they had initially planned to keep it private but ultimately changed their stance. 

She shared, "Honestly I've been very open about not wanting to be public. And so when we kind of got together, it was just — it was literally one day where she was teaching a dance class and the girls in the class and the boys in the class were like, kind of looking at us. Then one was like, 'Why are you here, JoJo?' And finally I just came up to her and I was like, 'Yeah, why am I here?'"

Siwa continued, "And I gave her [Wilson] the look like, 'It's okay, you can say,' and then they were videoing that, and so we were like, 'You know what? It's public."

After news of the split between JoJo Siwa and Dakayla Wilson broke, the internet reacted with mocking comments about the short duration of their relationship.

A person on X (formerly Twitter) laughed at the relationship's brief span, posting "3 months" along with a laughing emoji.

One user commented on Facebook, "The ups and downs of emotions can be quite complex, but perhaps this experience has taught them both a lot. I hope Jojo and Dakayla can find joy and growth on their respective paths."
