LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: JoJo Siwa has thrown her hat into the ring for multiple categories at the 2025 Grammy Awards for her track 'Karma', but her submission quickly stirred up online discussions, with many predicting she won't take home any awards.

Despite the backlash surrounding the song, which holds the dubious distinction of being the most disliked music video by a female artist on YouTube, the 21-year-old remains unfazed.

JoJo Siwa's 'Karma' received largely negative reactions on its release

JoJo Siwa has reportedly submitted her track 'Karma' for consideration in several categories at the 2025 Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video. She has also put her name forward for the Best New Artist category.

Artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Megan Moroney are also in contention for the Best New Artist nomination at the 2025 Grammys, as per Billboard.

'Karma', released on April 5, 2024, is the lead single from her debut EP, 'Guilty Pleasure'. However, the song failed to resonate with fans, and its music video became the most disliked by a female artist on YouTube, surpassing those of prominent stars like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry.

Nevertheless, the 21-year-old celebrating the milestone with her followers on TikTok. In the clip, shared in July, she listed the least-favored music videos from female artists this year, sourcing the data from an online dislike tracker.

The list included notable artists like Grande, whose song 'Yes, And?' apparently received 290,000 dislikes, and Perry’s 'Woman's World', which garnered 330,000 dislikes. Siwa also highlighted Swift’s 'Fortnight', which had 350,000 dislikes.

Ultimately, the 'Dance Moms' alum noted her own track topped the list with an astounding 3.1 million dislikes. She remarked, "Your N  1 first place overall goes to… Karma, JoJo Siwa, with an astonishing, record-breaking 3.1 million dislikes! I am the only person that can say I beat Taylor Swift on a list of something. I’ll take it."

In the caption of the TikTok post, Siwa wrote, "WHAT A DAY TO CELEBRATE. KARMA BROKE A RECORD. 900% MORE THAN 2ND PLACE. A WIN IS A WIN."

Since its release, 'Karma' has elicited mixed reactions among listeners, largely negative, leading to a surge of memes mocking its bold presentation.

In an interview with TMZ in April, Siwa explained that 'Karma' represents the start of a new musical era for her. She stated, "I think I just want to make it more clear that gay pop is a genre. I am not the inventor of gay pop, for sure not. But I do want to be a piece of making it bigger than it already is. I want to bring more attention to it."

The track also led to rumors that she had stolen it from Miley Cyrus and Brit Smith, who apparently recorded demo versions of the song in the early 2010s.

Siwa quickly shut down the rumors saying, "I did not steal anything. There's no such thing as stealing. What happens is people write songs, and then, they don't do anything with them. Then, a few years later, it makes sense for another artist."

"I was pitched it. I loved it, was obsessed with it, so I grasped onto it. That's a very normal thing," explained Siwa.
