WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden revealed he would not feel guilty if his Republican opponent, Donald Trump, entered the White House for a second term in November because he decided to stay in the race "as long as I gave it my all." The 81-year-old, in his first post-debate interview with ABC News host George Stephanopoulos on July 5, repeatedly denied concerns from Democrats about his chances to defeat the former president in light of heightened questions about his "cognitive decline" after a pathetic presidential debate.

"Mr President, I've never seen a president with 36 per cent approval get reelected," Stephanopoulos bluntly stated, noting a defiant Biden's decision to remain in the race despite increasing calls for his exit. "Well I don't believe that's my approval rate. That's not what our polls show," the president retorted.

Biden touts his foreign policies to prove he is the best candidate

As the president claimed his approval ratings indicated his reelection, the host questioned how he feel next January if Trump won a second term and all his cautioned scenarios came to pass.

"I'll feel, as long as I gave it my all, and I did as good a job as I know I can do, that's what this is about," Biden responded.

The octogenarian attempted to sell his candidacy, claiming he was the best to hold America's interests and policies at military alliances like NATO and checkmate China.

"I think the United States and the world's at an inflection point. When the things that happen the next several years are going to determine what the next six, seven decades look like, and who's going to be able to hold NATO together like me? Who's going to be able to be in a position where I'm able to keep the Pacific Basin in a position where we're at least checkmating China now? Who's going to do that? Who has that reach?" Biden asserted.

Despite the confidence, Biden's age became the center of attention once again after he displayed a cognitive decline in the first presidential debate with Trump last week. He started the debate with a raspy voice and faltered several times with nonsensical statements while his GOP rival looked energetic.

The lackluster performance sent the Democratic Party into a panic mode about his candidacy, and a group of elected officials urged for his exit from the 2024 race. However, Biden is adamant about continuing in the race even though he admitted later that he "screwed up" on the debate stage.

Internet blasts Biden for saying he would not feel guilty if Trump wins election

Social media users slammed Biden as he declared he would not feel guilty if his reelection race led to Trump's victory.

"I wouldn't have said that the concept of 'main character syndrome' could be applicable to the President of the United States, but Joe Biden continues to innovate in the space," a user wrote.

"Guy is running for President with the same mindset as a little league team. He knows we don’t give participation trophies to the losing candidates right? Well… his party probably does," another remarked.

"Why would he care? Man isn't gonna live to see the consequences of him pulling a RBG and desperately hold onto power regardless of how it'll hurt everyone else," added a third user.

"Typical narcissist. It all about him. The American people need a leader who can do the job any time of the day or week," read a fourth response.

"Biden? Honey? This isn't a high school sportsball game. This is the future of the country. 'I did my best and that's what counts' isn't going to cut it," another person said.

"Sometimes a good job is acknowledging 'I'm not true best for this, there are other people who can do it better who are available.' Putting country, and the hundreds of millions of people at risk, before your pride," someone else chimed in.

"Words that are much easier to say after having lived a long life. The youth of America has a hell of a lot more to lose, Joe," an individual fumed.

"Of course he'll feel fine about it. he's gonna be dead and buried soon, and he's a rich, career politician. he won't suffer from the effects of this country being transformed beyond recognition," another user added.
