Joe Rogan says he's worried about Mike Tyson, hopes Jake Paul doesn't knock him out during upcoming fight
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Joe Rogan has expressed concern over the upcoming match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, scheduled for November 15, 2024, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
At 58, Tyson’s age and health have raised concerns among his supporters, especially after a recent health scare that delayed the fight.
Joe Rogan fears for Mike Tyson’s well-being
Joe Rogan addressed his concerns on his podcast, sharing his thoughts on the potential outcome of this much-anticipated showdown between the boxing legend and the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Rogan admitted he is worried about the possibility of Tyson getting knocked out by Paul.
“I really hope he doesn’t knock Mike Tyson out. I’d just be real bummed out to see Mike get KO’d at 58-year-old… It’s kinda crazy,” said Rogan, according to Macra, voicing his concern over the potential risks Tyson faces at this stage of his career.
Despite the risks, Rogan is still hopeful that Tyson can surprise everyone with his performance.
Joe Rogan says Mike Tyson is 'perfectly capable' to turn the bout upside down
He noted that Mike Tyson’s skill and experience could be enough to pose a serious threat to Jake Paul.
“He is perfectly capable. If he zigs when he should have zagged, Mike can close the distance in a way that he doesn’t expect,” Rogan said, highlighting Tyson’s legendary ability to change the course of a fight in a split second.
Rogan said Tyson’s deep knowledge of boxing remains a huge advantage, even at 58.
"Mike also has layers upon layers of attacks that are in his mind,” Rogan continued, keeping in mind the wealth of experience that Tyson brings to the fight.
"He’s forgotten more about boxing than Jake Paul has ever remembered... If he uncorks a boom-boom on Jake Paul, that would be wild,” Rogan commented, optimistically suggesting that Tyson could deliver a decisive blow to uphold his reputation as one of the sport's most legendary fighters.
Why was Mike Tyson and Jack Paul's fight delayed?
Mike Tyson and Jake Paul's fight was initially scheduled for June 30 and was being promoted by Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions.
However, Tyson suffered a medical scare in May during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles which forced the delay.
"He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing," New York Post reported.
On May 31, he announced the fight was being postponed but sounded optimistic it would happen at some point.
"Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover," Tyson said in a statement.
"My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon," he added.
Meanwhile, Paul has boasted that he will end Tyson’s fight career. "I will go down as the man who put Tyson to sleep for the last time," he said.
Reaponding to Paul, Tyson said, "I will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good."
