WASHINGTON, DC: John Bolton, former National Security Adviser, suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be concerned about Vice President Kamala Harris's remarks following their meeting on Thursday, July 25.

According to The Hill, during their private meeting, Kamala Harris told Prime Minister Netanyahu that it was time for a cease-fire in Gaza.

The 2024 presumptive Democratic presidential nominee also voiced "serious concern" about the effects of the Israeli offensive in Gaza on Palestinian civilians.

John Bolton’s advice to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

“She was very icy in her demeanor, showed strong discipline there, and her words were a clear signal,” John Bolton asserted on CNN Friday.

“Harry Truman should be turning in his grave now, because the Democratic Party’s very special relationship with Israel I think has disappeared, and I think a Harris administration would be a whole different world in US-Israeli relations,” he claimed.

Following their meeting, Vice President Kamala Harris told reporters “I’ve said it many times, but it bears repeating: Israel has a right to defend itself, but how it does so matters.”

The 59-year-old Democratic presidential contender mentioned that she and Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed “the scale of human suffering in Gaza, including the death of far too many innocent civilians.”

“What has happened in Gaza over the past nine months is devastating,” Harris remarked. “The images of dead children and desperate hungry people fleeing for safety, sometimes displaced for the second, third or fourth time. We cannot look away in the face of these tragedies. We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering, and I will not be silent.”

This meeting marks the first indication of Vice President Harris's evolving foreign policy stance since she declared her candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination earlier this week.

Prior to the announcement, the Biden administration maintained that there was no difference between President Biden's and Vice President Harris's views on the Gaza conflict.

However, her comments showing empathy for the Palestinian situation signal a notable shift from the Biden administration's earlier stance.

Bolton warned that Israel may come under pressure to resolve the conflict from both sides of the United States presidential race. He noted that former President Trump, a strong supporter of Israel, might no longer wish for the allied nation to be linked to the ongoing conflict.

“Trump has just said in recent days, ‘Israel‘s got to get this war over with, it‘s got to get the hostages back, its PR is terrible,’” Bolton stated. “Why does Trump care about that? Because he doesn‘t want to be defending an unpopular Israel.”

Finally, this user tweeted, "Good. The US _should_ use its leverage to try to overcome Netanyahu’s corruption and self-interest."
