John Mulaney and Jimmy Kimmel decline to host Oscars next year leaving fans devastated
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: John Mulaney and Jimmy Kimmel have reportedly decided not to host the 97th Oscars which will be held on Sunday, March 2, in 2025.
Kimmel, who is an Oscars award veteran, passed on the proposal earlier this summer. But the reason behind it is not known, as reported by Variety.
John Mulaney reportedly said no to the Oscars due to his busy schedule
On the other hand, the busy schedule of Mulaney, who got widespread compliments for hosting the Governors Awards, has to be blamed for him turning down the gig.
It has been said that Netflix could renew his talk show ‘Everybody’s in LA’.
The actor was hailed online earlier this year for being the hilarious presenter during 2024’s Oscars as he gave the award for Best Sound.
Many people called it “Mulaney’s audition”. An X user tweeted, “This was John Mulaney’s audition, and he passed with flying colors. He should host next year and many years after that.”

Last month, Bill Kramer, Academy CEO, spoke about Kimmel and Mulaney with Variety.
He said, “We are lucky to have Jimmy [Kimmel], who helped create one of the best Oscars last year. John Mulaney also did an incredible job. All I will say is, with whomever hosts the show moving forward, we want to continue with this tone of celebration, respect, humor, and a great love of movies. We have some great options.”
