John Travolta, 70, ditching Hollywood for Australia as he’s no longer treated like royalty, claims source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It looks like Hollywood star John Travolta could be gearing up for a big change. Word on the street is he might be considering a move to Australia, leaving behind the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown.
An insider spilled to Radar Online, “John still has a handful of incredibly powerful friends in LA—including some billionaires—who absolutely treat him like a legend whenever they hang out. But with the younger generation of movers and shakers, he just doesn’t get that superstar treatment anymore.”
While Travolta is still active in the movie scene, blockbuster hits like 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Saturday Night Fever' seem to be a thing of the past. He's been spending a lot of time at his Florida home these days, working through some tough losses — including the deaths of his wife Kelly Preston, his son Jett, and his close pal, Aussie icon Olivia Newton-John.
John Travolta might move Down Under
The source went on to say, “John’s circle in Hollywood is shrinking as his old friends age out of the business. When he’s in L.A., he barely gets recognized anymore.”
But things are apparently a whole lot different down in Australia, where Travolta’s star power hasn’t faded a bit. It’s like he’s still Danny Zuko from 'Grease', with fans who remember every line from the movie like it came out yesterday.
Travolta recently visited Sydney with his kids, Ella, 24, and Benjamin, 13, and it seemed like he was loving every minute of it. The source shared, “In Australia, it’s like Grease just came out yesterday. There’s this whole country where he has been consistently famous for over 40 years, in part because of his close friendship with Olivia.”
While Travolta’s rep shot down any rumors about the actor planning to move to Australia for good, the insider said otherwise. “As long as his kids are on board with the idea, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if John decides to pack up and move Down Under," they claimed.
This comes right on the heels of Travolta’s reunion with his 'Pulp Fiction' co-star Uma Thurman and director Quentin Tarantino at the Academy Museum Gala in LA. The event was a big deal as it marked the 30th anniversary of the cult classic film, and the trio even snapped a selfie together to commemorate the moment.

John Travolta, Uma Thurman, and Quentin Tarantino were all smiles as they mingled with other stars at the glamorous event. Thurman looked stunning in a brown satin gown, posing with Travolta and the 'Reservoir Dogs' director after she strutted down the red carpet with Tarantino.
Tarantino received the Luminary Award, which celebrates artists whose "singular contributions have expanded the creative possibilities of cinema." Travolta himself presented the award, taking a moment to praise the legendary director’s impact on the industry.
Tarantino also made a big gesture, donating his original handwritten draft of the 'Pulp Fiction' script to the museum as part of his acceptance speech. Travolta kept things sharp for the occasion by sporting a sleek black suit jacket with a high-neck sweater, while Tarantino went classic in a tux.
Travolta recently opened up about the role that 'Pulp Fiction' played in reviving his career. Speaking to Variety, he remembered how Tarantino’s decision to cast him felt like a real game-changer.
“The last success I’d experienced before Pulp Fiction was the Look Who’s Talking films, so getting the Pulp offer was certainly a next-level, upper-echelon opportunity—more along the lines of the Oscar nomination-type performance of Saturday Night Fever and Blow Out integrity,” he shared.
Travolta also talked about how Tarantino’s admiration for his work played a big role in his comeback.
“I was one of his favorite actors growing up on Welcome Back Kotter, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, and Blow Out, and he wanted to work with me. I think it helped that he was a big Pauline Kael fan, and I was one of her favorite actors. He raised the bar for me and gave me a second chance at a high-end career, one that he always wanted me to have," he added.
