John Travolta allegedly used Scientology methods to 'heal' Marlon Brando in Barbra Streisand's home
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: John Travolta allegedly used Scientology methods to "heal" Marlon Brando in the living room of his stepmother Barbra Streisand, Josh Brolin revealed in his tell-all memoir, 'From Under the Truck', which was released on Tuesday, November 19.
Brolin made a startling confession while reminiscing about a dinner party at his stepmother's house in his recently released memoir, which also discusses the 'The Goonies' actor's challenging childhood and struggle with alcoholism.
John Travolta allegedly used Scientology methods when Marlon Brando showed up with bleeding leg
In his recently published memoir, the 'Dune' star addressed his difficult childhood, the complexities of his alcoholism, fatherhood, and other unusual experiences.
The 56-year-old further asserted that Travolta "healed" the 'Godfather' star using his "Scientology powers."
Brolin wrote in his book, "I had been invited to a dinner with John Travolta; Kelly, his [late] gorgeous and uber-pleasant wife; Marlon Brando; a redhead Marlon had met on the internet; my pops and his wife, Barbra (a singer)."
The 'Sicario' actor recalled being struck by the 'Godfather' actor, explaining, "I was 27 years old and the whole reason I got into acting was because of the early films I had watched starring Marlon and the late James Dean," reported Daily Mail.
Dean, incidentally, died in a car accident on the outskirts of Brolin's hometown of Paso Robles, and ended up in the same morgue as his mother, per OK! Magazine.
"Wow. I was going to meet THE Marlon Brando," Brolin remembered thinking to himself at the time but things quickly got urgent when Brando showed up with an injury.
According to the 'Dune' actor's memoir, "Marlon arrived late to dinner with a blue dinner jacket, loose slacks, and a scarf around his neck."
He penned, "When [Marlon] stepped from the car and stood up, he reached down and pulled up his pant leg. Under it was blood running down his leg."
"He explained that he had stopped to help some people pull their cars from a landslide on the Pacific Coast Highway, and when he tried to pull a car out of some mud, it got traction and the bumper hit his leg," Brolin added.
Brolin claimed to have heard Travolta, a devoted Scientologist, exclaim, "I just got to the next level!" almost simultaneously.
Brolin explained: "Marlon sauntered up to John and John to Marlon and they gave each other an ebullient hug. John excitedly told Marlon how he had just completed a course on healing and that he could help him. John grabbed Marlon softly by the hand and led him inside, toward Barbra's living room."
"By the time I walked in Marlon was on a chaise lounge and John told him to close his eyes. I stood there quietly and left mine open."
"John put his hand on Marlon's leg, then his other hand on Marlon's chest. Time passed, quietly. Nobody spoke. I was the person farthest away from them. I watched. Marlon Brando and Danny Zuko. This is insane," Brolin wrote.
The 'No Country for Old Men' star revealed what Travolta said to Brando, "How is that?" Brando reportedly responded, "Wow," to which the 'Grease' star said, "I know, it's really something."
"Marlon stood up, looking less blanched than before," Brolin continued, concluding, "I had just witnessed John Travolta fix Marlon f***ing Brando."
Josh Brolin reveals how stepmom Barbra Streisand helped him get sober in his memoir
In his memoir, Josh Brolin revealed plenty of tales about his childhood, the difficulties he encountered after losing his mother Jane, and how Streisand's "old-fashioned" approach to motherhood eventually enabled him to pursue sobriety.
Brolin claimed that his stepmother Barbra Streisand helped him get sober when she inquired as to whether he should drink wine while intoxicated. He told Howard Stern that the singer said "not so fast" during the above dinner party when he asked for a glass of wine.
"She’s like, 'Why would you drink? You’re an alcoholic.' She was this kind of, like, typical Jewish mother who was like, 'You can’t do that because that would hurt you. You know, you gotta eat. You look too skinny,'" Brolin said.
The actor acknowledged that his life has improved since he stopped drinking in 2013.
"I love being sober. I have more fun. There's nothing that I go through that I am absolutely certain wouldn't be worse if I was drinking," Brolin told The Sunday Times newspaper.
