Jonathan Owens being called ‘Mr Biles’ by NFL commentator after scoring touchdown sparks fan frenzy

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: NFL star Jonathan Owens was referred to by his more famous wife, Simone Biles' name, as he scored the first touchdown of the season during the Chicago Bears vs Tennessee Titans game on Sunday, September 8, reported Page Six.

In a video shared by ESPN on Instagram, a commentator is heard saying, "Mr Biles getting in there,” as the clip showed Owens running to the end zone. "Well done by him."

While Owens is popular in the United States for playing in the NFL, his wife Biles has leaped to global stardom as the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, according to the US Weekly.

She recently returned to the country after bagging three gold medals and one silver from the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens support each other's career

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens got married in April 2023 after dating for two years. Biles cheered for her husband while he played for the Green Bay Packers in 2023.

After getting back from the Paris Olympics, she could not make it to the game on Sunday, but reshared the video of him scoring the touchdown on her Instagram story, writing, "LFG!!! @jowens. Touchdown for Hubby.”

The clip was also shared by Sunday Night Football on X, with the caption, "Jonathan Owens scoop and score on the blocked punt! How ya feeling, @Simone_Biles?”

“I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK," read her reply. The Bears dominated over Titans 24-17 at the end of the game.

In his turn, Owens attended the 2024 Olympics to support his wife through the competitions. He gushed over her skills during an interview, stating, "I try to remember her routines. It’ll be like random times, she’ll be on the floor (and) does something, and then she does, like, that."

He admits to having been "spoiled" watching Biles perform her routine “so many times".

Netizens adored how the commentator referred to NFL star Jonathan Owens as 'Mr Biles,' and gushed over it while commenting on the clip shared by ESPN on Instagram as well as on X (formerly known as Twitter).

One X user shared a meme pointing the comparison between the cameraperson when Simone Biles is attending her husband's game versus when it's Taylor Swift's turn to cheer her boyfriend Travis Kelce.

"Mr Simone Biles scores: no camera pan to Simone. Kelce catches a ball and the camera immediately pans to Swift without seeing if it’s a completion…", they captioned the meme.

Another wished they'd see Jonathan Owens celebrate with backflips honoring wife Simone Biles. They wrote, "I feel like he should have done a back flip into the end zone. Disappointed he didn’t." 

And speaking of backflips, one social media user posted a clip of Simone Biles doing the backflips but with the caption, "Mr Biles. "
